I invested into a security method for my mother’s home, it took me a while to talk her into it, then she was convinced that the replacement would require drilling holes into her walls & ceilings.
She was sure the unit would be bulky & ugly. She argued that she’d have difficulty operating it & be inconvenienced. I explained that modern security technology is absolutely wireless & integrates into the lake house with no disruption; Everything from the window breakage sensors to the cameras are severely compact & streamlined. I also promised her that this week’s systems are especially user friendly. She was a bit afraid of the touchscreen display, but I showed her how to navigate through the weird programs & features. She’s able to access monitoring & adjustment through her smartphone, however when the security method was first installed, there were some difficulties, and my mother set off the alarm by mistake various times, and this wasn’t a sizable problem. The monitoring company alerts both she & I to any disturbances. The people I was with and I simply need to provide a code word & they shut off the alarm. If every one of us fail to answer with the correct code word, they alert the authorities. It makes me think safer & more confident knowing that my mother is protected by the security system. My mother enjoys that she is notified when someone enters the driveway or steps up onto her doorstep. She can see who is there & speak to them, then her lake house is locked up tight at evening, with no worries over a break-in or disturbance. She also has an emergency button she can push. Since she is 69 years outdated now, I think better about her living alone now that she has the security system.
