It’s weird to be letting go of the family home.
There are just so many memories and stories in that house.
My wife and I could hardly believe it when we first moved in. We were married right out of college and our first home was a little cottage that we could barely afford. It had baseboard heating instead of a central air heating method. And I remember having to put one of those window unit air conditioners in when the summer rolled around. Our first two babies were born there. But by that point, we were doing a lot better and started to look for a family home as we wanted to have at least 3 kids. Two infants in that little place with the lame heating & cooling were more than cramped. When we found this place, we couldn’t really figure out how to swing the down payment. The seller was so kind and allowed us to get creative because he wanted us to have the house. It needed some work but it was so much house for not so much money. One of the first things I did was to have a really nice HVAC unit installed. And from the very first, I made sure that the HVAC unit received semi-annual preventive maintenance. And now, I’m replacing that HVAC unit some 25 years later as we get ready to sell this home. As weird as it feels, it’s also really nice knowing that a new family will make their own memories here. I know the house and especially the HVAC unit took such good care of us.
