If you’re ever in the position where you can buy a home warranty for your house, then you should definitely go ahead and get one. This usually only happens when people are closing on their home for the first time, and it’s definitely worth the money should you choose to purchase it. My dad actually told me about home warranties right before we purchased our first house a few years ago, and I am really glad that he did. Without his advice, I don’t know that I would have purchased the home warranty and I would have been very sorry for it later on. At first, I thought that the issues with the heating and cooling system would be covered by our HVAC warranty, but then we found out that the HVAC warranty had expired several months before we closed on the house and we didn’t know it! This was an issue that we had never anticipated happening and so we were faced with lots of repair bills for our furnace and our air conditioning system. Since we were just getting into the swing of things with our new mortgage payment, we did not have any extra money to throw at an HVAC repair. Thank goodness we had purchased the home warranty, because it actually ended up covering all of the heating and cooling repair bills for us. I’m so glad that I listened to my dad when he told us to purchase the home warranty!
