I have been working at the heating and AC repair and installation business for the past 3 years.
- During that time, the business has grown exponentially.
When I started working here, there were only a few other heating and AC repair and installation technicians. Now there are more than a dozen repair technicians working for the company. We service the entire county as well as a large portion of the surrounding area. Every day there are heating and AC repair and installation service calls and it is my responsibility to handle problems when they come. I worked all five days Monday through Friday last week and the boss asked me to pick up the weekend as well. One of the new guys was sick with covid and someone had to cover the weekend days. My boss had plans to go out of town and he even offered to pay me extra. I told my boss it wasn’t necessary, because I was going to be paid extra anyways for being the on-call service technician. There were a couple of calls throughout the weekend and I handled everything without any issues. I had a stack of invoices to give to my boss and the repairs totaled more than $2000. On Monday morning I gave all of the invoices to the boss and he presented me with a $250 Visa gift card. He told me that the extra money was a thank you for being there on the weekend when there was no one else to work. I thought it was a nice gesture and I didn’t say no.
