My elderly mother is living with my spouse & my adolescents so I have people of every generation that need to be protected from the dangerously cold temperatures outside during our increasingly colder Wintertide seasons
When I was a kid, my friends & I played outside every hour both of us weren’t in school or tied up with our families. There was a immense patch of woods at the end of our street & both of us would have airsoft gun battles & build forts in the trees & underbrush. I remember the weather regularly being mild outside of the winter, which wasn’t too poor either. The two of us rarely got snowfalls in those afternoons as temperatures would remain in the 50s & 60s throughout the Wintertide season! I remember growing a lot of plants in those afternoons that I can’t have anymore because the taxing freezes that both of us get every Wintertide now would threaten these kinds of plants & make it extremely hard to grow them year after year. Many cacti & succulents will die if exposed to freezing temperatures long enough to freeze the plant itself. Once it is fully thawed out again, it will most likely no longer be living at that point. These temperatures make it taxing to get through the Wintertide season separate from running the central furnace on a near hour by hour basis. It’s nearly regularly on & I have to simply deal with the expenses neighbord with heating my house to this degree. I wish both of us could go back to the afternoons of my youth when the temperatures during our winters were much higher than they are today.
