Ken and Vicky figured that 2 summers of crazy high cooling costs was enough.
- That first month wasn’t that bad.
When they moved down here from the north, Ken and Vicky knew that there was going to be serious change in their weather conditions. That was apparent the first day they got here. Ken and Vicky moved in about mid June and they had the cooling system on full blast just driving the moving van to get close to their destination. But then, when they got off the truck and away from the a/c comfort, the heat and humidity hit Ken and Vicky hard. It’s like stepping out into what they would imagine as equatorial weather conditions would be without the sea breeze. The heat hits difficult but then is followed up with a humidity level that leverages that high temperature into straight misery. So that first summer, they weren’t sure what else to do but lean on the control unit. And lean on the control unit they did. To the point that Ken and Vicky’s cooling costs were mirroring the Heating & A/C heating costs that they just left behind. However, the second summer was on them. Ken and Vicky just didn’t want to endure the extreme conditions of the heat of summer. The cooling system seemed to just stay inside with the central a/c maxing out for some time. Then, they had the best 8 months of weather that followed. This year, Ken and Vicky sealed up the house, stopped direct sun heating with drapes and no more leaning on the control unit. It’s the end of June and the first full month of Summer utility cost is in. They are saving a staggering amount on Heating & A/C cooling which is amazing.
