A family of racoons tore up our air conditioning system last weekend.
I couldn’t believe that was what happened when I went out there to check on the A/C unit, but that was exactly what had happened.
I noticed that something was wrong with the air conditioner because the house was really heating up. Even though I had the thermostat set at 70 degrees, the house was 73 and the temperature was still rising. I couldn’t figure out what the problem was, but there was no way that I was going to wait around to find out. The weather around here has been so hot recently that it’s just not something to play around with. There has been a massive heatwave in this part of the country and it’s not good for me to be in the heat all that much because of the medications that I am taking regularly. Anyway, when I couldn’t get the air conditioning to work any better by messing around with the thermostat, I started to try and figure out what the issue might be. Now, I am in no way a heating and cooling professional at all. I barely know how to turn the thermostat off and on. But I do know that there is an exterior part to the air conditioning system and so I went out to check on it to see if something was wrong out there. It turned out that there was a major problem. A family of racoons had obviously been living right on top of the A/C unit and had somehow bent the fins on the fan inside of the unit.
