It’s really amazing how much the sun on the glass heats up the big room in my mom’s house in the afternoons during the summer and the fall.
It’s gotten to the point where none of us even want to go over there to visit with her because her house is so hot. I know that sounds terrible, but my mom knows that it’s true. She always tries to leave her house now to come out and meet us somewhere because she doesn’t like it there either. I keep telling her that she needs to call her local heating and cooling company to come out and fix the problem for her. There should be no reason for the sun to be keeping her out of her own home! It really is an issue for her though. She has tried turning the cooling system down so that the temperature in the house gets cooler, but the sun creates a really terrible greenhouse effect inside of the house and the whole place is just hot and muggy. On top of that, when she turns the thermostat down, her cooling bills end up being sky high. It’s terrible to have to pay such high cooling bills and still not be comfortable in your own home. My mom told us that she thinks that she’s going to end up calling the HVAC company later on this week Because she wants to have everything fixed before Thanksgiving comes around. I think she’s going to want to host it at her house, but there’s no way we’re all going to go over there if it’s too hot.
