I told my bestie that I had to assist a co-worker with a furnace repair on Friday.
- My bestie and I were supposed to go to the theater together, but I was not interested in going when I found out that my good friends were going skiing.
They told me to cancel on my bestie, but I knew she would become very upset, and I foolishly and stupidly chose that lying was a better move instead of telling the truth. I told my bestie that I had to help my coworker Ted with a furnace replacement job and she was very concerned that I could not go with her to the theater. I woke up super early and left the beach property as if I was going to work, and she did not notice me grabbing my skis and snowboard from the garage. I was only on the slopes for two hours before I fell, busted up my leg, and had to go to the emergency room. The worst section of the entire experience wasn’t the broken leg. The main thing that worried me was the fact that the hospital called my bestie because she was listed as my emergency contact. She instantly called me and asked if I was injured while taking care of the furnace repair. I had to tell her the truth after she called me entirely upset. She was mad for a bunch of days, and she threatened to break up with me if I ever lied to her again in the future. We truly had a nice discussion about communication and I told her that I didn’t prefer the theater in the least. I went to the ballet with her a single time, but only because I was attempting to impress her early on.
