Annual property inspections are beneficial to the tenants and the landlords

I work for a property management company, and we manage a few small properties in the city that I live in.

And overall, I love my job, but from time to time it can be a bit challenging.

Sometimes, you have tenants who refuse to understand that there is a wait time to get certain things fixed. Instead, they require you to fix their issues as soon as they report them. On days like that, I really have to remain as patient as possible so that I can keep my sanity. Anyway, part of our job is to make sure that all the units go through an annual property inspection. Prior to the inspection, I make sure that I give the tenants proper notice that we will be entering the property. Some tenants prefer to be present during these inspections, which is fine with me. These inspections are beneficial to both the tenant as well as for us, so that we can identify any issues that need to be fixed inside the rental property. I have a checklist that I hand to my maintenance crew, and they are responsible for reporting back the issues to me. Once I discuss the issues with the owner and get the green light to move forward, I schedule all the maintenance for the properties. The process usually takes a couple of weeks to complete, but once done, most of the tenants are usually satisfied with all the upgrades. I am just happy that the landlords for the properties don’t hesitate to fix all the issues that we identify.
