Four Tips to Save on Your Heating and Cooling Bill

Whenever it gets extremely hot or extremely cold you can always hear people complaining about how much it costs to run the heating and cooling system.

I have learned over the years various ways to save money when it comes to air conditioning.

First of all, turn to your windows. If you have old windows with gaps and who knows what else, it might be time for new windows. Technology improves every aspect of life, and windows are no exception. Overtime Windows has been getting more and more efficient. If you are still using Windows from the 1960s or 70s or 80s, it is time to think about getting better Windows. If you want to save money on your heating and cooling but don’t want to replace your windows, at least you can either put window film on end or seal up all the cracks around the edges of your windows. This will allow your AC to work less and thereby save you money. Secondly, At this time of year especially, it’s a good idea to turn off your air conditioner at night and open your windows. Ceiling fans, too, make you feel cooler than you actually are. Now I’m not saying you should be unsafe. If it makes you feel unsafe, don’t do it. Thirdly, get a smart thermostat. If you don’t want to spend money on a new thermostat, make sure that every time you leave the house you turn up the thermostat a few degrees so your AC will not have to chill a house that no one is in. Number four, use Ceiling fans.Ceiling fans allow you to set your thermostat a few degrees higher and still feel cool.
