How could a smaller furnace heat my large house more efficiently?

He told us about the more compact furnaces that were just as efficient as the old larger units.

When my husband bought a new house, we did so because I was about to give birth to triplets. A two-bedroom, one-bathroom home would soon be too small for a family of five. Three girls needed three more bedrooms, and at least two more bathrooms. We found this huge old house that had four bedrooms and four bathrooms, and the only thing it needed to make it livable was a new HVAC system. I loved the master-bedroom. It had an attached bathroom and a walk-in closet. The other three bedrooms had their own bathroom and a large closet. There was also a guest bathroom in the basement where they had remodeled to create a playroom and a spare bedroom. There was a half-bath off the laundry room on the main floor. I wondered why the price was so low, but the realtor told me it was because the family had to sell it to pay for the nursing home expenses their parents had accrued. The HVAC technician told us he could get us a furnace that would be more efficient, and it would take up less space. He told us about the more compact furnaces that were just as efficient as the old larger units. I doubted we could get the same amount of heat out of a furnace that was half the size of the old one, but we trusted him. A month later, the HVAC company installed our furnace. It may have been tiny, but it was strong. We had all the heat we needed, and it cost us less to run.
