I almost ruined our HVAC warranty by accidentally skipping the proper maintenance service that we needed for it. Apparently, you have to get the HVAC unit serviced professionally by one of the company’s approved dealers every three months or your warranty is voided. I feel like maybe whenever we bought the HVAC system in the first place, the salesman at the HVAC store might have mentioned this, but I don’t really think I was all the way tuned in, if you know what I mean. I have a lot of trouble listening sometimes whenever I’m in a public area like a store or a restaurant. Everything seems to blend together and I just can’t focus. So if this guy at the HVAC company told us that we needed to get the unit serviced every three months or it would void our HVAC warranty, it went right in one ear and out the other. I didn’t get the unit serviced the first three months that we had it, and apparently there was a grace period for that initial time period. However, I almost forgot after the second three months were up, too! I nearly voided our HVAC warranty because of this silly rule without even meaning to. I guess I’m just really one of those people at heart who thinks that if something isn’t broken then you don’t need to fix it. I don’t ever think about doing the maintenance on our HVAC system if there’s nothing wrong with it! Skipping the maintenance would totally void the warranty, though, and that would be terrible if something should go wrong in the future.
