I was trying to hide everything from my wife, but I wasn’t going to lie to her after she found out
I didn’t want to tell anyone about my new job and promotion at work. I honestly thought it was the perfect opportunity to surprise my wife with something special. After all, if she didn’t know I had extra money, then I wouldn’t have to hide it from her. I planned to get a new gazebo for the backyard. My wife had talked about that for several years, but we really didn’t have the money. I picked out the perfect cedar wood and I already spoke with the contractor about the plans. I was simply waiting until warmer weather. I forgot my lunch on Monday, so my wife came all the way downtown to the building where the HVAC business is located. She brought me my lunch. My wife is incredibly sweet and wonderful like that. When she dropped off my lunch, she talked to my boss for a couple of minutes. My boss said something to her about the promotion and the raise. I could see my wife’s face. She didn’t say anything to my boss, but she asked me about the HVAC business when I got home from work. I was trying to hide everything from my wife, but I wasn’t going to lie to her after she found out. I told her all about the promotion at the HVAC business and I told her that I was saving up money to buy her a brand new gazebo. She urged me to continue saving and promised to look surprised when I had enough money to get the new wood structure erected in our backyard.
