I followed the step-by-step guide online and relit the pilot light
I spent 10 years in an unhealthy and abusive relationship and one day I finally had enough. I packed up all of my bags while my boyfriend was at work and I left the house. I know it might have been easier to confront the guy and have a big argument. When I was done, I just wanted to leave and never see the guy again. I found a job working at a library. I met a couple of friends and I found a small house to rent. I had some money saved up from the relationship and I used the cash to pay for 6 months of rent. I was living in the house for a couple of weeks and then I had a problem with the furnace. There was no heat in the house and I couldn’t figure out why. I tried to call the landlord, but the guy did not answer the phone and his voice mailbox was full. I tried to find the answer online. I honestly didn’t think I would be able to fix the furnace problem without help, but I realized very quickly that the problem was a pilot light issue. I followed the step-by-step guide online and relit the pilot light. After about an hour, the house was warm and I felt extremely proud of my accomplishment. It was the first time in my life that I solved a problem on my own. I was really worried that I wouldn’t be able to live on my own and fixing the furnace gives me hope that I am stronger than my ex-boyfriend thinks I am.
