Mom and dad found the rental agent was really nice, despite there being a language barrier. They were just going to see the island and didn’t speak the local tongue. But, the agent spoke a bit of English and was able to rent them a bungalow on the beach for their getaway. Mom and dad’s hotel had been closed down suddenly making their reservations now worthless. But, they were lucky to get the bungalow without booking it in advance. The bungalow was on the edge of the sand, a hundred meters from the water. Inside there was electricity, but no air conditioner. Being a familiar entitled American, dad just assumed any rental location he paid money for would come with air conditioner. He was pretty steamed about a lack of cooling, but mom pointed out that with the money they had saved from the hotel reservations, it would be easy to buy a small A/C component for the location. In the local hardware store, they found a small, portable , just enough to cool down a room at a time. It cost mom and dad a single hundred bucks, and they admitted it was the best a single hundred bucks they’d ever spent, because that cooling was inupscale. At the end of their trip, mom and dad decided to leave the in the rental condo for other guests. It was certainly small and portable, but mom still didn’t want to fuss with carrying an onto an airplane! Dad hoped the next guests would like their gift.
