The rental agent was entirely nice.
There was a bit of a language barrier, because the two of us were just going to see the island and didn’t speak the local tongue.
She spoke a bit of English, however, so the two of us were able to rent a little bungalow on the beach for a few afternoons, and our hotel had been closed down for some reason, our reservations now worthless, so the two of us were lucky to get any locale on such short notice. The bungalow was on the edge of the sand, a hundred meters from the water. It had electricity, but the two of us were shocked to find there was no air conditioner, call me a correct entitled American, however I just assumed any rental locale I paid money for would come with air conditioner. I was pretty steamed about a lack of cooling, but our spouse pointed out that with the money the two of us had saved from the hotel reservations, the two of us could just buy a small A/C component for the locale. It turns out that a local hardware store sold a small, portable , just enough to cool down a single room at a time. It cost more than one hundred bucks, and I have to say it was the best more than one hundred bucks I ever spent, because that cooling was inupscale. When our trip was over, the two of us decided to leave the in the rental condo for the next people to use. It was very small and portable, but the two of us still didn’t want to fuss with carrying an onto an airplane! Hopefully the next tenants love our gift.
