After the riots in the city, we knew we didn’t want to be there anymore.
Our kids were always scared to go out of the house. So, we planned to buy a place in a small town. The house we got was within our budget but came with a few issues. First, it was old. The previous owner hadn’t done any major renovations in almost a decade. It would require some serious work to transform, but at least it was in an excellent location. Plus, the backyard was big enough for our children. Second, we had to figure out how to get a new central heating and cooling system for the house. Adding to that was the need for a whole-home dehumidifier to help balance the humidity levels. There was so much humidity in the area since it was near the coast. The extra moisture was affecting the house and accelerating the growth of mold. We did our best to keep the mold at bay but eventually had to get money to buy the dehumidifier. It was the best way to keep the house comfortable and safe for our family. Purchasing the new central heating and cooling unit was no mean fit. We got assistance from a friend with a small loan to add to the money we had. Not only did we have to figure out the AC and dehumidifier, but we also had to hire an HVAC professional to come and set it all up. So much work went into the installation process that we knew it wouldn’t be cheap.
