I was so excited that we were going to be having dependable heating and cooling in our home that I did not really pay much attention to the fine print in the contract that we signed that day.
Our HVAC warranty says that we have to get professional maintenance work done on it twice a year. I don’t know why that is. That’s just the way that the contract is written with the HVAC company that services the HVAC system. When we first bought our new central HVAC system last year, I wasn’t really paying all that much attention to the service terms. At that point, I was just pretty excited about the fact that we were going to have a new high efficiency heating and cooling system in our house. Our former HVAC system had been just terrible, and we really were in need of a new one. I was so excited that we were going to be having dependable heating and cooling in our home that I did not really pay much attention to the fine print in the contract that we signed that day. It’s a good thing that my husband actually read the fine print much more closely than I did, because he knew in the back of his mind that we were going to have to get regular maintenance work done on the heating and cooling system in order to maintain the furnace warranty. Last month,as luck would have it, he decided to get the furnace looked at by our local HVAC technician. It turned out that we were having the tune up done just a couple of days before the HVAC warranty would have been voided if we had not had it done. I’m glad that he thought about doing it because I would have hated to void our warranty!
