My parents are snowbirds.
They stay up north during the summer time when it’s warm.
As soon as it turns cold, they come down south for the heat. Their beach house is literally next door to mine. It is awesome having my parents so close. We rotate back and forth who cooks dinner and get together and have game and movie nights. It also is fantastic when I need help with a house project or if they need my help to lift something heavy. It works out really nice when they leave too because my parents have me watch over the house. I can easily water plants, mow their yard and turn lights on and off because their house is so close. The most recent time was a bit rougher because I noticed the Heating and A/C component wasn’t turning on. I went over to the thermostat and saw that it was working fine. The actual Heating and equipment wasn’t working properly anymore. Rather than call our parents and get them all worried, I diagnosed it. I had a Heating and A/C company come over to the beach house to take a peek at the equipment. A section inside the component had iced over and gotten disfigured in the process. The AC repair was a few hundred bucks and I paid the guy’s labor. My parents do a ton of free work on our house. I figured I owed them a Heating and A/C repair. I didn’t tell them the Heating and A/C was repaired until they were already in the beach house and using it like normal. They were pretty glad I fixed it.
