The Difference Between a Central Heating, Ventilation plus A/C System plus a Heat Pump

They currently had a central Heating, Ventilation plus A/C system, so they were leaning toward keeping the existing program plus just updating it

After living in their apartment for 13 years, it was time for our parents to update their Heating, Ventilation plus A/C system. I saw them spend a lot of time researching various heat plus air equipment, trying to find the best option, but my dad even spoke on the iphone with at least 3 strange Heating, Ventilation plus A/C professionals about their situation. There’s no telling how many more she called when I wasn’t around. When I asked them what they were planning to do, they said they had multiple options. They could either update both their heating system plus air conditioner separately, which was considered their central Heating, Ventilation plus A/C system, or they could install a heat pump. I didn’t believe what the difference was, so our dad explained it to myself and others in easy terms. In a central Heating, Ventilation plus A/C system, the air conditioner was responsible for cooling, while the heating system was responsible for heating! Neither the air conditioner or heating system could do the opposite, but for instance, an air conditioner could only cool plus a heating system could only heat. A heat pump could do both heat plus cool. My dad showed myself and others pictures of both the outside units for a central Heating, Ventilation plus A/C system plus a heat pump plus I couldn’t tell the difference. They looked absolutely similar! I asked him if there was a difference in energy or efficiency plus she assured myself and others that there wasn’t. They currently had a central Heating, Ventilation plus A/C system, so they were leaning toward keeping the existing program plus just updating it. My dad thought it would be easier.
