The rental agent was the best.
TWe did experience some language barriers, then reason being both of us were just going to see the island & didn’t speak the local tongue.
Thankfully he spoke a little English & did rent us a little bungalow on the beach for a few days. The resort had been closed down for some reason, so there was no other place for us to stay. Fortune was on our side to get any place on such short notice. The bungalow was on the sand, a hundred meters from the water. There was electricity, but both of us were dismayed to find the place lacked a Heating & A/C system. Call us the proper entitled Americans, but both of us just believed any rental place both of us paid cash for would come with an Heating & A/C system. We were aggravated about a lack of cooling, but after calming down both of us realized with funds both of us had saved from the hotel reservations, we’d just buy a small AC component for the space. It turns out that a local hardware store sold a small, portable Heating & A/C unit, just enough to cool down the small room. It cost a small amount, & both of us have to say it was the best money both of us ever spent, because that cooling was heavenly. When our trip was over, both of us decided to leave the Heating & A/C unit in the rental home for the next people to relish. It was particularly small plus portable, but both of us still didn’t want to fuss over bringing an Heating & A/C unit onto an airplane. Also both of us knew the next tenants would love some air conditioner.
