The rental agent was really nice. There was a bit of a language barrier, because the two of us were just going to see the island plus didn’t speak the local tongue. She spoke a bit of English, but, so the two of us were able to rent a little bungalow on the beach for a few afternoons, our hotel had been closed down for some reason, our reservations now worthless, so the two of us were lucky to get any place on such short notice. The bungalow was on the edge of the sand, a hundred meters from the water. It had electricity, however the two of us were shocked to find there was no air conditioner! Call me a respected entitled American, despite the fact that I just assumed any rental place I paid cash for would come with air conditioner. I was pretty steamed about a lack of cooling, however my hubby pointed out that with the cash the two of us had saved from the hotel reservations, the two of us could just buy a small A/C component for the place. It turns out that a local hardware store sold a small, portable air conditioner, just enough to cool down a single room at a time. It cost more than one hundred bucks, plus I have to say it was the best more than one hundred bucks I ever spent, because that cooling was inupscale. When our trip was over, the two of us decided to leave the air conditioner in the rental current home for the next people to use. It was undoubtedly small plus portable, however the two of us still didn’t want to fuss with carrying an air conditioner onto an airplane! Hopefully the next renters prefer our gift.
