Our children got lots of money from our parents for their 17th birthday.
- We truthfully thought they were going to put the money into a savings account for a car, but they decided to use $1,000 to buy huge flat screen televisions for their bedrooms.
When our children came to the lake house with the television, we told them that we did not want the television hung on the wall. But, they talked us into changing our mind when they came to the lake house with replacement kits as well as wall mount. They had all of the necessary items so we felt fantastic about the decision to let them hang the television on the wall. After all, that would give them more room to walk around the room while washing their socks and underwear. We heard our children on the phone talking with friends. They called some reinforcements for help with the tv. We felt fantastic about that choice, because we knew they were unlikely to lift the televisions and hang it alone. They asked where the drill was at 7:15 p.m.. at 7:33 p.m. we heard a loud crash in the bedroom. We knew the televisions were on the floor. These were busted and there were huge cracks on the screen. Our children were crying, and we were frustrated about the tiles on the floor. Several of the tiles were chipped and cracked. We weren’t sure we would manage to get the same tiles, because they had been installed by a foreign contractor a decade ago. We were frustrated with our kids, even though we tried not to get too mad because they were already sad about losing the TVs.
