Mom had been calling for weeks telling me to go see her.
It was actually getting harder to lie to her because I had so much work to do.
I realized if I told her I was busy, she would call my aunt who was also my boss. My mother was her big sister and I knew this would quickly turn into a difficult situation… So, I chose to speak with my aunt to get a month off work and drive to see mom. My aunt had seen all my work and agreed to deliver me all that time to rest then resume work. She’d take over the extra work until I was back. Since I had a month, I chose to spend two weeks at home alone, relaxing, then the other time with my mom. It was a sunny Saturday when I got started with the solo drive back to my rural residence. The day was easily becoming quite hot, and I enjoyed the fact that the car had wonderful air conditioning equipment. I was a little concerned since I had not checked the air conditioning machine before embarking on the journey. But, I hoped I would arrive at my mom’s beach residence before encountering any air conditioner issues. Boy, was I wrong! I started experiencing car problems about halfway through the journey. The air conditioner died on me. It was too hot in the car to carry on driving, so I diverted to a small neighborhood along the way, seeking an auto maintenance shop. The person at a gas station directed me to one which also specialized in automobile air conditioning machine repairs.
