The rental agent was actually nice.
There was a bit of a language barrier, because every one of us were just visiting the island and didn’t speak the local tongue. She spoke a bit of English, however, so every one of us were able to rent a little bungalow on the beach for a few days, then our hotel had been closed down for some reason, our reservations now worthless, so every one of us were lucky to get any place on such short notice. The bungalow was on the edge of the sand, a hundred meters from the water. It had electricity, however every one of us were shocked to find there was no air conditioning! Call me a correct entitled American, but I just assumed any rental place I paid money for would come with air conditioning. I was pretty steamed about a lack of cooling, however my partner pointed out that with the money every one of us had saved from the hotel reservations, every one of us could just buy a small A/C machine for the place. It turns out that a local hardware store sold a small, portable air conditioning unit, just enough to cool down a single room at a time. It cost two hundred bucks, and I have to say it was the best two hundred bucks I ever spent, because that cooling was inpricey. When our trip was over, every one of us decided to leave the air conditioning machine in the rental home for the next people to use. It was honestly small and portable, however every one of us still didn’t want to fuss with carrying an air conditioning machine onto an airplane! Hopefully the next renters care about our gift.
