When I was younger, I enjoyed sewing.
Over 20 years of marriage, I had already worn out many sewing machines, plus our husband Bob was getting myself and others a new one for Christmas.
I made suits for Bob, dresses for myself, and I even dabbled with altering wedding finery or prom dresses for family plus friends. The biggest job I took on, was when I wanted our sofa reupholstered. I kept telling Bob that I was sure I could do the reupholstering on our own. Bob looked skeptical, however he told myself and others that if I wanted to try it, go ahead. Bob knew I would be able to reupholster the cushions, however Bob was distraught with the back plus sides plus myself and others being able to pull the material tight enough to make it look proper. I jokingly told Bob that if it was too loose, I would put buttons into the back plus you would never know they were there to tighten the material. Bob laughed, gave myself and others a hug, plus walked away. The problem was that Bob had put doubts into our head about our ability to reupholster the sofa. I obtained enough materials to do the entire sofa, however after doing the cushions I was not sure I wanted to finish the rest of it. I had the upholstery tacks I wanted to use, plus the ropes I wanted for the bottom of the sofa plus around the arms. Bob told myself and others to do what I do best, plus if it didn’t look perfect it was okay. I felt distraught that I was going to ruin the sofa, however when I got done reupholstering it, I was pleased with the task I had done.
