If you buy an HVAC warranty, then make sure that you don’t forget the maintenance work that comes along with it.
- With the HVAC warranty that I purchased with my last heating and cooling system, it had a stipulation in the contract that said that we had to have professional heating and cooling maintenance done on the unit at least once every six months.
This was mandatory in order to maintain the HVAC warranty. There were a couple of times when I almost missed it, I have to admit. When you are busy living your life and working and doing all of the things all the time, you tend to forget things like your heating and cooling and maintenance. Once last year, I really almost blew it and voided my warranty because of my own procrastination. I am supposed to get the heating and cooling system maintained by a professional HVAC company twice a year. I’m supposed to have it done once by June the 1st and I’m supposed to have it done another time by December the first. Well, last year, I totally spaced out about the whole thing. On November 30th, I realized that the next day was the last day to get my furnace tuned up! I nearly panicked. I called every HVAC company in our area to find someone who would be available that very day to come and get the paper signed and the furnace looked at so I could keep my warranty. That was a very stressful day, that’s for sure! I won’t make that mistake again.
