My hotel had closed down for some reason

I found the rental agent quite charming though there was a bit of a language barrier.

I was just going to see the island & didn’t speak the local tongue.

The man spoke a bit of English & managed to rent myself and others a little bungalow on the beach for a few days. My hotel had been closed down indefinitely rendering our reservations useless. I was fortunate to get any place on such short notice. The structure was on the edge of the sand, a hundred meters from the water. It had electricity, but shockingly came without a cooling system. Call myself and others a proper entitled American, even though I just assumed any rental place I paid cash for would come with a cooling system. I was pretty steamed about a lack of cooling, but it occured to myself and others with the cash I had saved from the hotel reservations, I’d just buy a small cooling unit for the site. It turns out that a local hardware store sold a small, portable cooling unit, just enough to cool down a room at a time. It cost myself and others a few hundred bucks, but that was absolutely the best money I ever spent, because that cooling unit was the best… As our trip winded up, I saw it fit to leave the cooling idea in the rental cabin for the next people to use. It was absolutely small plus portable, even though I still didn’t want to fuss with carrying a cooling unit onto an airplane. My hope was the next renters value the unit.
