Let me give you a little inside scoop, that most people don’t define themselves by what they do for a residing.
I was at a get-together the other afternoon, & someone said to me “so what do you do?” I responded by saying “I am a father & hubby, & that takes up a lot of our time.
I am also a writer & a podcaster, which is where our passion absolutely lies.” The woman was surprised & asked how much money I made podcasting, & I told them the truth — I made nothing. My afternoon job is being an Heating & A/C professional, but that isn’t “what I do” that is how I pay our bills! Don’t get me wrong, our labor at the heating & cooling repair contractor is great, & I absolutely much value our job. But once I clock out for the afternoon, I stop being an Heating & A/C tech. Don’t call me, don’t text me, don’t “at” me about Heating & A/C work, I will do it the next time I am work. I enforce a absolutely strong delineation between our labor & lake beach house life — I don’t take personal calls at work, & I don’t labor on Heating & A/C stuff at home. I assume you could say that Heating & A/C is our work, because I’ve worked in it for so long, & don’t system on ever doing anything else. Being an Heating & A/C professional is not who I am, but, it is what I do to put food on the table & pay the bills. I wish people would ask me about our podcast instead of our Heating & A/C job.
