Let myself and others supply you a little inside scoop, that all the people don’t define themselves by what they do for a living. I was at a get-together the other afternoon, and someone said to myself and others “so what do you do?” I responded by saying “I am a father and partner, and that takes up a lot of my time. I am also a writer and a podcaster, which is where my passion entirely lies.” The person was surprised and asked how much money I made podcasting, and I told them the truth — I made nothing. My afternoon task is being an Heating and Air Conditioning worker, however that isn’t “what I do” that is how I pay my bills! Don’t get myself and others wrong, my work at the heating and cooling repair dealer is great, and I genuinely much value my task. But once I clock out for the afternoon, I stop being an Heating and Air Conditioning tech. Don’t call me, don’t text me, don’t “at” myself and others about Heating and Air Conditioning work, I will do it the next time I am work. I enforce a genuinely strong delineation between my work and condo life — I don’t take personal calls at work, and I don’t work on Heating and Air Conditioning stuff at home. I suppose you could say that Heating and Air Conditioning is my career, because I’ve worked in it for so long, and don’t plan on ever doing anything else.
