Getting particular things where I live can be rough.

And this was the case when I wanted to buy a particular brand of portable cooling system. The local store did not stock this brand of portable cooling systems however they were available to be special ordered. I had the store clerk order me the portable A/C unit I wanted. I paid a little bit extra for the special order, but it is ok, because I have heard that this particular brand of portable A/C unit was the best 1 around. It finally came in and I am going to option it up tomorrow at noon on my meal break from work. That is the only time I can get to the store before the weekend. And with the boiling hot weather that is coming, I want to have my portable A/C unit ready to use because I want to save money on my weekly energy costs. I method to run the portable A/C unit half of the time and then the other half of the time run my central A/C as per normal. By using this method it will highly cut down on energy use and make it so that my bills will be much lower moving forward. And with this high quality portable A/C unit that I bought on special order, it will be even more powerful and labor absolutely well. I am highly looking forward to turning on my new portable A/C unit tomorrow when I get to my condo from work!

I use radiant heated floors at my condo and they are pretty great.

I am undoubtedly blissful with them.

That said, when there was an issue last week and I had to call the local heating and A/C company to send out a certified heat and cooling system specialist to inspect and repair the radiant heated floors, which was where it became a hassle. It turns out that if you have radiant heated floors and you need them repaired, then you are going to be paying a lot more than you would for correct heating and A/C plan repair. That was something I was not expecting. I got my radiant radiant heated floors fixed, but the steep cost gave a large hit to my bank account. I wasn’t sure if it was just the local heating and A/C company tech overcharging at first! So I took to the internet and did some research to see. As it turns out, they charged exactly what they should of. The repair and maintenance of radiant radiant heated floors is where the catch is with having these things inside your home, do not get me wrong, I don’t regret having radiant radiant heated floors because they have saved me a lot of money on energy use absolutely well, plus they absolutely heat my condo very well. But I just wasn’t expecting to pay this much for radiant heated floor repairs if they ever had an issue and stopped working. In the future I will be ready for this and at least suppose the cost if my radiant radiant heated floors ever split again.

Every time that I need to take a plane ride anywhere in the country I constantly love to fly at night! The reason for that is because there are fewer people on the flight which means that the central A/C and heating vents in there will have far better air flow.

Also the air quality is much better too, however when there are fewer people it makes for much better air quality on a plane for some reason, however that also sort of makes sense to me in a way, but I got real exhausted of having to put up with awful heating and A/C on a plane and having wall to wall people all crammed in love a tin can.

It was absolutely not making me want to fly. It was when a friend told me about flying at night being a lot better that I gave it a try and those were my findings. I will never fly in the day again and have to deal with awful air quality and awful heating and A/C! Especially if I am on a very long flight anywhere I want to be able to have quality heating and A/C. If it is Winter time it can be pretty chilly on a plane, and if Summer it can get pretty hot. And having quality heating or A/C is a very important thing. This helps confrontation it off and everything. I look forward to flying at night also because I can have some fantastic rest not being crammed together with people.

I really can not believe that my central heating and air conditioning system is almost 20 years old! The really amazing thing is that it still works great and I am in no need of having to invest in a brand new, up to date and very expensive central heating and air conditioning system unit any time soon! I have my seasonal HVAC tune up and check ups done all the time without skipping a season, and every single time to date the heat and a/c specialist is just as amazed as I am that this almost 20 year old central heating and air conditioning system works just as good as it did the day I bought it.

There is no signs of anything breaking down and no signs of any parts needing to be replaced.

I have only in all these years had 4 times that the central heat and a/c system broke down on me. And all 4 times it was something very minor that was able to be fixed within less than a half an hour. I never had the motor break on me and I have never had the fan break on me. These older model central heating and air conditioning systems are really built to last! Also the SEER rating of this old central heating and air conditioning system is really great. I do not have super high electric bills like many others because of it. If it were to break down tomorrow and be unfixable I would be very shocked! Who knows how long it will last, but I am glad I am still good to go.

Because if something ever goes wrong (and it will), I will be one of the people who could go back to the old school so to speak and still survive while the younger generation will be freaking out and possibly even dropping dead, not knowing how to survive without computers telling them what to do and controlling everything. The most scary thing are these smart thermostats and smart central heating and air conditioning systems! I personally did not buy any of this because I do not want a computer to be the sole source of my heating or air conditioning working. Especially in the area in which I live which contains a lot of extreme weather in the summer and the winter both. I knew a friend who had just a smart thermostat and the computer that controlled it went crazy and he ended up in the summer time having non stop heat pouring out of the air vents of his HVAC system! He had to take his family out of the house for a few days and call the local heat and a/c company to get one of their heating and air conditioning specialists to come out and pretty much destroy the smart thermostat to get it to shut off! It was horrible! This is just an example of how computers are going to be the death of us all if not careful.

 

 

Electric heat pump

I will never forget this one home that I rented some years ago.

It was really odd about the central heating and air conditioning system.

Usually the HVAC unit would be on the side of your house or in the backyard. But in this home I was renting the central heat and a/c unit was actually in the garage! I had never seen such a thing before and have not seen it again since. But the thing was, it actually worked and didn’t cause any major issues. The only hassle was that the place to change the air filter was also in the garage, which did not make sense to me, but that was how it was. It was the most insane heating and air conditioning set up I think I ever seen in my entire lifetime to date! I even told a heating and cooling specialist about it one time and he was baffled. It is for sure not something that you come across every single day of your life in finding a central heating and air conditioning system unit placed in a garage! My only guess is that it had something to do with the way that the ductwork was laid and how the house was built. Having a lot of different ductwork lying can affect how the central heating and air conditioning system unit will be placed within a home. Never the less, it was an interesting experience and year of my life having a central heating and air conditioning unit that was in the garage!

 

Weird but it worked

I was watching the TV the other night and I found that there was an infomercial on for selling a gas fireplace! This was very interesting as I never seen something like this for a gas fireplace or any kind of fireplace to be totally honest.

I was watching this because it seemed so interesting and I really liked the look of this gas fireplace! Especially the blue flame.

When I was a kid we had a gas furnace in our basement and I always remember going down there just to sit in front of it and look at the little blue flame. Even as an adult I guess it still makes me feel nice looking at it. I really want to get a gas fireplace now after seeing this infomercial on the TV. I didn’t want to order from the TV because I don’t trust those kind of things and I do not like to give my credit card out over the phone. So eventually I am going to go out to the store that sells electric fireplaces and gas fireplaces and buy one! I will not be doing it right now because it is the dead heat of summer. But when it gets closer to fall I will plan on buying one of these gas fireplaces just like the one I seen on the TV! I can not wait to experience looking at a pretty blue flame again like it used to be when I was a kid with my parents gas furnace they had. It will be pretty great!

I had been thinking about doing this for a while and I finally decided to do it.

And that is to call my local heating and air conditioning company and sign up for their HVAC service plan. By having an HVAC service plan to protect my central heating and air conditioning system all year it will really be worth the few extra bucks to pay for the service plan. I always have at least one heating and air conditioning system break down in the course of a year. So why not pay for the HVAC service plan? The cost of it is what one single heat and a/c repair would cost anyhow, and in the HVAC service plan my central heating and air conditioning system is also protected against any natural disasters like tornadoes and hurricanes that could destroy it. And if I am on their heating and cooling service plan, if that did ever happen to my HVAC system, I will not have to pay thousands of dollars for a brand new central heating and air conditioning unit! The HVAC service plan will provide me with a free replacement. All I would have to do would be to pay the installation costs. That is a real sweet deal! I would not want this to happen of course, but if it did, I know that I am well covered. I am very happy to be getting this heating and air conditioning service plan for my home. It will be a worthwhile expense.

I just bought a brand new central heating and air conditioning system. Now the main thing is being able to schedule a time for the local heat and a/c company to come out to deliver it and then install the brand new central heating and air conditioning system. Because I work in the day it is going to be a major task to figure it out. But somehow I will make it work. Even if I have to take the day off from work. It is hard to say really. I just don’t understand why heating and air conditioning companies can not just do HVAC installations in the later part of the afternoon and just work a little harder! It really makes no sense to me. So what if you stay an hour later than when you are supposed to knock off of the job. If you work for a good heating and cooling company they will pay you overtime and you will make a lot more money doing heating and air conditioning installations later in the day. I know I would if I was a certified heat and a/c specialist and had the option to do so. However, it isn’t this way and there is nothing I can do about it. All heating and cooling installations have to be done in the early morning according to the so called HVAC rule book. So I will just work it out and take the day off sometime next week to get my new heating and air conditioning system unit installed into my home.

I had an interesting lunch the other day.

An old friend of mine who today works as a certified heat and a/c specialist met me for lunch.

We caught up on old times and new times, and it was really interesting to hear about his work in the heating and air conditioning business. He was telling me about so many things I had no idea about. Like he was talking about how installed radiant heated floors for someone last week. I had no idea what radiant heated floors were so he went on to explain. More or less, they are a heating system than runs on hot water pipes from your floor! But you have to have tile or wood flooring. If you have cement you can not get radiant heated floors. He also told me how he later this week is going to be installing a brand new and up to date central heating and air conditioning system. That sounded pretty complex as he was describing it. I never knew how complicated putting in a new heating and air conditioning system could be. Needless to say I am happy for him, but I can tell you that working in heating and air conditioning is for sure not for me! I am glad I do what I do. I am not a physical labor type person. It never was my thing and I could never see myself working in construction or being a certified heating and air conditioning specialist. My body wouldn’t be able to handle it!
