If she could transform her room into a freezer, I think she would make the sacrifice plus do it. Of course, her energy bill is a bit excessive as a result of the way she uses her cooling system, however she doesn’t care, she would rather spend the extra money to sleep in what she deems as a comfortable room. I think it is a bit much, but that is our opinion. My aunt invited me to his church while I visited his for a quick weekend trip.

Though I don’t frequent churches and it had been quite a while, I obliged because I didn’t want to be rude and reject my aunt’s request.

I woke up that Thursday afternoon, got dressed, and off to church I went for the 11:00 AM service, and while I walked through the aisle of the church trying to locate a locale to sit, I observed a few older men using hand-held church fans. This church had a central air conditioner unit, so I was a bit surprised to see the men using those church fans. The fans were made with wooden handles with thick stock paper stapled to them. The image on the stock paper showcased the name of the church plus a picture of the church building, and seeing this made me smile because church fans were used several years ago to give some relief to church goers during the warm Summer months prior to the mornings when air conditioning systems were readily available to the general public. This week, most churches have a cooling method installed, some have Heating, Ventilation, and A/C units while others rely on smaller window air conditioning systems, perhaps some use industrial-sized fans. But it is amazing that the hand-held church fan, an seasoned invention, is still being used this week in church buildings that have air conditioner technology. As mentioned, the men were older, so they became acweather conditionsd to using these fans, and therefore, the church fans became area of their church experience. I saw the fans as a good way to advertise the church as they could be used to recruit new members. Turns out, this was in fact another purpose of these church fans to give advertisement for many businesses. Perhaps, I should have advocated a few of those hand- held fans for my friends and family to promote and advertise my aunt’s church.

I followed in my father’s footsteps by creating my own company before the age of 25. My father was a paper boy at 15 and slowly started to meet the people who run the printing plant for the newspapers in his city. Eventually he opened a paper supply company and sold raw materials to print presses throughout the country. My dad gave me a job at a young age, but he encouraged me to carve out my own future instead of feeling indebted to taking over his business after his death. At least he gave me a lot of important business experience that made it possible for me to start an HVAC company. Around the age of 20 I got my certifications to be an HVAC technician and started working full time for a large heating and cooling supplier. It was a good experience during the four and a half years that I worked there, in part because I was trained to do everything. One day we would be installing new air systems in houses being built and another day I’d find myself in a tight crawl space under an old hospital trying to run refrigerant lines. But this is the exact sort of work I needed to be doing if I wanted to go out on my own and start a separate HVAC company. Once I hit 24, I started to make concrete plans. Things have gone so well in the past 30 years that I have my sons and daughters working here. It’s great having a family-operated HVAC business that is also rated highly by members of our community.

Working in real estate is a mixed bag of successes and failures.

Sometimes the market is roaring and home sales are through the roof, then the opposite happens for several years straight.

If you don’t plan for the downturns you won’t be able to pay your bills. It doesn’t surprise me when I see a lot of people working in real estate that have spouses who do more to support their joint family financially, regardless of gender. For what it’s worth, my old college buddy was taking advantage of his wife for years because she’s a lawyer with a six-figure income. He went into real estate as an unskilled bum like a lot of people do, as they somehow convince themselves that it’s an easy ride to success and wealth. He heard about my career and jumped on the bandwagon while lying to his wife about his intentions. He doesn’t realize that it takes a lot of energy out of you doing real estate, especially when there are ethical dilemmas where you have to warn clients of potential dangers with a property. Whenever a central HVAC system is over 10 years old, I urge my clients to expect that fee after purchasing the property, or to find a property with a newer air conditioner and furnace. However, HVAC manufacturer warranties do not transfer to a new owner; if the seller bought the a/c a year before you purchased the house, the a/c is now officially out of warranty. I had one client who called me angrily after he finished moving in and tried to get the air conditioner fixed using the former owner’s manufacturer warranty. Since they refused, he was calling me to have someone to blame. I told him repeatedly about this issue before he signed the paperwork to buy the house, but he must have ignored me.
