When I first moved out on my own, it was a hard thing to do.
It wasn’t just difficult because it was a huge leap into the unknown, but it was also really hard for my parents.
Well things had never been 100% perfect between us, I had a very close relationship with both my mom and dad and so when I moved away for college it was really hard on both my parents and for me. We tried to make it easier on each other so that way we could still enjoy each other’s company even if we weren’t physically present. I did this by calling my parents multiple times a week to let them know how I was doing and what was going on. I was really enjoying college life but I will say that when summer break came around I was happy to take the time off and go home to visit my parents for a while. I made the drive to my parents house that summer and I was surprised that when I walked into the house the first thing I felt was an overwhelmingly hot heat wave. It was so hot that it blasted me straight in the face. My mom came over and greeted me with a big hug and I asked her what was wrong with the house and why it was so hot. She informed me that the air conditioner had stopped working and that they were still trying to get a cooling specialist to come in to service it. She apologized for the heat but told me they had several fans running in the house. Even though it wasn’t as comfortable in the house as normally is due to the HVAC system not working properly, it was just good to be back home with my parents again. Anyways, it didn’t take us long to find ways around the heat and despite the heating and AC system not working we are still able to have lots of fun.
