My partner and I had a hunting lodge built in the middle of the woods… The lodge was nothing more than an A-frame building, with 1 immense room and a small family room on the lower floor, and a family room on the upper level, and i asked where the powder room was going to be and he looked at me; He said a hunting lodge was for roughing it, however every one of us were going to have an outhouse.
I would not stay in a lodge that didn’t have an indoor powder room.
He added a small room off the family room, where we would have an indoor outhouse, which wasn’t much better. The only great area was that I wouldn’t go outside in the middle of the night. The next subject I brought up was HVAC. He had already been planning on putting a wood-burning stove in the lodge, although I wanted air conditioning. Every one of us changed the plans again when he agreed to ductless Heating and A/C. He now realized we also needed electricity if we wanted lights and a ductless Heating and A/C system. His rustic lodge was only going to be rustic in appearance. I had an electric stove with a microwave and several other family room accessories. The pièce de résistance was the ductless Heating and A/C method so we could come to the lodge any time of the year. He grumbled the entire time the electrician was at the house. He grumbled even more when the Heating and A/C worker left and handed us a hefty bill. He didn’t grumble so much when it snowed the first time we were at the lodge, and we had Heating and A/C to keep us warm.
