My parents do the snowbird thing, so they stay up north during the Summer and early fall.
But as soon as it turns cold, they come down south for the heat because they don’t favor the cold weather much.
Their up-to-date home is literally next door to mine. It is awesome having both of my parents so close. Both of us rotate who cooks dinner and get together for game or film afternoons. It also is good when I need help with a home project or our parents need me to lift something heavy. It works out really nice when they leave too, because my parents have me to watch over the house. I can easily water plants, mow their yard and turn lights on and off because the beach home is so close. The most recent time was a bit rougher because I noticed the HVAC system wasn’t turning on. I went over to the thermostat and learned that it was working properly. But, the system itself wasn’t operational anymore. Rather than call my parents and get them all distraught, I repaired it. I had a Heating and A/C business come over to the up-to-date home to take a peek at the equipment. A space inside the component had iced over and gotten mangled in the process, so some repairs needed to be done. The A/C repair was a few hundred bucks and I had to pay the guy’s labor. My parents do a ton of free work on our house. I figured I owed them a Heating and A/C repair. I didn’t tell them the Heating and A/C was repaired until they were already back in their home and using it like normal. They were pretty glad I took it upon myself to have it repaired.
