Grateful for residential HVAC

I’m so thankful that I love where I live. That hasn’t always been the case even though I’m now living not at all far from where I grew up. But when I was a kid, I thought this region was too hot, too quiet and boring. I’m sure I wasn’t the only teenager to feel that way. I ended up leaving all that air conditioning to move to the north for college. My college experience was awesome but I really hated living in the dorm room during the winter. The dorm I lived in had a massive boiler that produced plenty of radiant heating. But that radiant heating was either off or full sauna. I ended up taking a job right out of college that kept me in the north for a few more years. However, I just never could get accustomed to the winter. This led me to take a lateral transfer with the company just so I could get back to the south. And man, am I ever glad I did that. I think having lived away from this region for a while gave me a whole other perspective when it came to appreciating this area. Sure, the summer is hot, humid and comes with a whole lot of air conditioning. But I even have a newfound gratitude for that as well. Now that I’m an adult, I realize that there were people for generations who didn’t have access to residential HVAC. And just thinking about that really does help me to stay grateful and maintain that perspective even when I’m sweating just walking to the car in the summer.
