I hope I can rectify the situation pronto

My family owns land next to the lake just south of the city.

It’s about a 60 minute drive from our chalet.

This place has been in the family for several generations, and has always been used as a holiday spot for all of us. Even though it is honestly close, I don’t go out there more than three times a year. When the COVID pandemic hit, it wound up kneeling empty for almost 2 years. At least we thought it had been empty. When my cousin and I finally went back out there we noticed that it had not been empty during that time. Someone had moved in. They were long gone by this point, but the impression they left on the air quality was honestly strong. They made use of the fireplace, and did not clean out any of the ashes in it. This made the house have a bad smell. In addition, they had blatantly been smoking weed, too, which further depleted the air quality. My cousin and I opened the place up to get the maximum amount of natural ventilation, but there was still an awful smell. She had to drive back into town and purchase multiple strange air purification systems to leave in specific rooms. While those machines were working on cleaning the air, I set to work cleaning out the brick fireplace, which was in ruins. It turns out these people had also cooked food in the fireplace, leaving rotten food scraps buried under the ashes. We hope I can turn this around because our family will be staying there soon.
