Now that the weather is finally heating up and the Winter is over, there’s something that you should do if you have central a/c in your home.
A lot of people seem to forget about the exterior a/c component that is outside of your home.
Periodically, sticks, sod, weeds, or other outdoor debris can get too close to your a/c component and mess up your cooling system, then you want to make sure that before you turn the air conditioning system on for the first time in the summer time that you have completely cleaned around the air conditioning system component outside, and our air conditioning system system is located back behind the garage, and occasionally I completely forget that it’s even back there. Out of sight, out of mind, and all that! Well, a couple of years ago, I made the big mistake of not checking the a/c component out before I turned it on for the first time in the summer time and it was a sizable mistake. The morning that I turned it on for the first time, the weather outside was truly hot. The temperature was legitimately up in the nineties and it wasn’t even lunchtime yet. I remember it well because the whole thing was easily traumatizing to me! When I turned the air conditioning system on, there was a different grinding sound followed by a scraping sound outside. Then, abruptly, the a/c vents started to blow out a terrible, acrid smell into the house. I ran outside to look at the air conditioning system component and there was a big raccoon inside of the air conditioning system unit. It was terrible! I will never turn the a/c on again unless I check it first.
