The heat in the desert would get so hot that various people would die if they did not have an air conditioning to cool down their cabin during the hottest times of the afternoon. The war was going on for a long time, as well as the military was desperate for material. They demanded that every cabin deliver up their central air conditionings for the war effort. Not that we did not want to support our nation, but we would not survive long separate from our air conditionings. I came up with an idea. I decided we would hand over our central air conditioning, but hide our window air conditioning inside of a hidden chest in our basement. When the soldiers came by to get our air conditioning system units, we gave them our central air conditioning. When they searched the cabin for another air conditioning, they did not find our hidden window air conditioning. Most of our neighbors had nowhere to hide their window air conditionings, so they had to turn over both their air conditioning system units to the soldiers.
