I work semi-remote and have quite a bit of freedom around there, because my boss has better things to do doing than worry about numbers every day… One of the taxing parts of the position, however, is the daily inventory that I manage myself, my fantastic friend and I get a small crew of workers to come help us count, which genuinely speeds up the physical part of the job, but then the real fun begins when I get to work out the numbers! That means I genuinely usually look forward to the physical inventory count in comparison.

That is, until this month, however when I arrived at the facility bright and early in the day i was not expecting the indoor air temperature to be just as frigid as it was outside. The outdoor temperature was about 35 degrees, and there was no relief indoors. That’s when I realized that normally when I arrive at work the heater has been running in the office for a few hours and the production machinery has warmed up the rest of the facility at least a few degrees. This early in the day, however, there had been no moderate relief in the entire space. My fantastic friend and I all got our clipboards and inventory sheets, and braved the brisk air in the wareproperty wearing hats and gloves… Every hour or so all the people would run back into the moderate safety of the small office to heat up a few degrees before returning back to the wintery temperatures in the production facility. By the time my friend and I were done counting I was more than ready to rest down at a moderate computer to play with numbers all day long with a space heater at my feet.

There were a million reasons that I hated my last job, but the number one complaint would have to be the office environment I was surrounded by. See, although I was lucky enough to have my own private office, the shared space right outside my door was truly miserable. Everyone was contained in tiny little cubicles, the air was completely still and silent, and the vibe was totally sad and depressing. You could hear a pin drop from the other side of the building, it was so quiet and tense in that space all the time. Worst of all, though, the air temperature control was completely out of whack. I swear, whoever was in charge of the thermostat must have been going through menopause, because the indoor air temperature fluctuated wildly throughout the day. It was too hot one moment, and frigidly cold the next. Thanks to their crazy hot and cold flashes, every single person was regularly getting sick and missing work. We tried a few times to ask the boss about having a professional HVAC technician come take a look at our old ventilation system, but he insisted the money was not in the budget. We seriously couldn’t understand how they expected us to keep working in such weird temperature conditions without complaining. Apparently their solution was to give everyone a free company blanket for christmas, so that we could moderate our own temperatures throughout the office without worrying about the broken down HVAC system. And that, my friends, is what we here in the business world call true American innovation.

My husband is a particular sort of guy.

He gets very interested in strange hobbies, and there’s no reeling him back in once the obsession has started.

For instance, he’s absolutely in love with nice coffees, and can tell you anything about the process of aging and roasting the beans of all different varieties. He also loves fine whiskey and travels the countryside trying to track down rare bottles in small town liquor stores. His other huge passion in life is cooking, and let me tell you, he has talent for days. He’s an amazing chef, and everyone tells him he needs to cook professionally. I’m just lucky that I get to reap the benefits of his cooking interest with gourmet meals every night! The only problem is, our kitchen is not equipped for all of his heavy duty cooking, and we desperately need a new ventilation system. The current kitchen fan hardly makes a difference when he has the stovetop full of sizzling dishes. The indoor air gets thick with smoke and noxious fumes of hot peppers and onions. The tiny stove top fan can’t possible funnel all of that spicy air out of the room as fast as the contaminated air is created! That’s why I am convinced that we need to have a powerful ventilation fan installed, and to include an air purification system for better air filtration. I know it will be an expensive HVAC upgrade, but I think it will pay off in the long run by saving our lungs from permanent damage via smoke inhalation!

My husband and I have been on the market for a new house for at least a year now, and frankly, we’re getting pretty desperate. It seems like we’ve looked everywhere and tried every means of house hunting, but we still can’t find a place that meets all of our specifications. We simply want to be able to live outside of a suburb on a small piece of property with some tree cover and a reasonably sized fenced in yard. We want a basement and a patio for instruments and grilling, respectively. We also want to have at least two spare rooms for guests and hobbies. We just haven’t had any luck finding these amenities without our price range and we’re getting pretty downtrodden. That’s why we were so stoked when what appeared to be our dream house popped up on the market! The only trouble is, we’ve recently found out it has a wildly outdated HVAC plan. Now, we are willing to compromise on a lot of things, but a faulty central heating and cooling system is going to be a tough sell for us. We’re well aware of the hidden costs of ventilation repair and replacement, and we are not looking forward to hiring a local HVAC dealership on retainer for our imminent heating and cooling disaster. We’ve been trying to negotiate with the sellers, offering less cash after considering the pending HVAC replacement costs, but so far they’re not budging. I’m going to be so disappointed if we can’t get this dream property because of a stupid old HVAC system!

I am so tired of living in places with terrible natural light.

All of the past four places I’ve stayed at were nothing short of dim and gloomy all day long; there wasn’t a single window that received enough light during any part of the day.

Even though I was previously residing in crappy little apartments, the house that I currently live in is no different! All day I struggle to brighten up my work space in order to make a more pleasant environment. Of course, the place where I like to do most of my writing has one of the poorest window situations. The only solution I’ve found is to open up our patio door, letting some of the streaming afternoon sunlight in. This looks amazing, but doesn’t feel so great. See, every time I try to catch the sun, I also catch the outdoor air and disrupt my home’s central HVAC system. The temperature outdoors is still a bit low, usually circling right around 50 degrees. Though the sun feels incredible, the air itself is too chilly compared to the temperature settings indoors. I end up feeling the temperature drop significantly as I continue to write, trying to be mindful of how hard the poor furnace is working as it tries to keep up. I know this isn’t a good solution for brightening up my workspace and it’s going to cost me more money in the long run to operate my central heating system harder. I’m just not sure what else to do, short of knocking a new hole into the wall.

There are few things that I hate doing more than physically shopping for any product.

The process of going from establishment to establishment, searching for one specific item, is infuriating.

That’s why I tend to do all of my shopping online, where I can simply perform an item search and wait for the desired product to appear at my doorstep two days later. It’s the best invention in the world. I tried this method when we were shopping for a new house lately, but unfortunately, there are some things you just have to see for yourself. I learned this the hard way when I sincerely thought we had found the house of our dreams in an online posting, only to find out it had a ton of hidden issues once we actually arrived. Namely, the HVAC system was a huge deal breaker. From the moment we walked into the house we realized the temperature control situation was not under control. It immediately felt cold in the front hall, but walking towards the kitchen the temperature was at least ten degrees warmer. Throughout each room we noted extreme temperature fluctuations and air quality conditions overall. One room felt warm and humid, the next was freezing cold and dry. We inquired about the HVAC system and the realtor begrudgingly told us that the heating and cooling plan was well over 15 years old. We took one look at the temperature control equipment and knew immediately we needed to walk away from the rusty and outdated ventilation plan. Good thing we saw that old furnace in person.

I admit, I have a few vices in this lifetime.

I try my best to be a productive and highly functioning member of society, but there are a few unseemly activities that I partake in.

For instance, I am a big fan of drinking. I enjoy getting a little tipsy and giggly, and I also love the taste of fine whisky or a well made cocktail. I am absolutely addicted to caffeine, as well, and absolutely cannot get through a day of work without several cups of freshly ground organic beans made into a tasty pour over cup of coffee. Lastly, I’m ashamed to admit that I still occasionally smoke cigarettes when I’m stressed or bored, or when I feel like I deserve it. I don’t think that a single cigarette every few days is a big deal for my long term health, but I don’t feel good about it either. What’s more, I probably have to update my whole HVAC system in order to keep up my habit because I absolutely hate the smell of cigarette smoke. Although I only smoke outdoors, the smoke always seems to come inside and pollute my high quality indoor air. Maybe the air return is located near my usual smoking spot, because it seems like the odor manages to encapsulate the whole house. I can’t stand the lingering stink in my breathing air, and I need a better method to remove all the hazardous airborne contaminants from my ventilation system. I propose an air purification systems that connects right up to my existing heating and cooling plan; my boyfriend says I should just stop smoking.

I am a truly passionate wife plus mother.

My family means the world to me, plus I don’t know what I would possibly do without my lovely spouse plus son.

That being said, they are both complete idiots. Before you jump down my throat, you need to understand some of the things they’ve done in the past. These incidents include getting electrocuted on a correct basis, finding creative ways to chop their fingers plus toes, plus occasionally burning down the garage. As such… I haven’t necessarily felt the most confident about my son’s future. He isn’t widely skilled, but there is one section in which he truly excels. He is the heating plus cooling wiz in the family, but ever since he was a small child, this kid had the most uncanny ability to adjust the control unit preemptively to establish the most comfortable indoor air conditions possible. My associate and I would casually mention the weather forecast around him, plus realize later on that the indoor temperature control had been adjusted. At first, my pal and I were aggravated with his unsolicited temperature changes, but after a few mishaps, my pal and I realized that his settings always made the property amazingly comfortable when the heat wave, heavy winter time storm, or humidity set in. It was like he had a fifth sense for anticipating what the central heating plus cooling plan needed to keep us cheerful. All of that being said, with so few promising leads, I have encouraged my kid to start his own Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C business. He would entirely fill a unique ventilation niche. If he doesn’t burn down their houses, he can specialize in detailed control unit programming for the most high-priced homes plus comfort-conscious individuals in the city.

Is there a way to divorce your family? Because I would be absolutely interested. They are a difficult lot of people, plus I can’t kneel the extra stress that they pump into my life year after year. As a young child, I feel I was blissfully unaware of what nightmares they are. However, as adulthood approached, I began to realize that this is not how other families act. They seem to unquestionably appreciate plus respect each other, plus I have no idea what that’s all about. My family is consistently at each other’s throats, complaining that no one is a great clan member plus asking for more favors; Just recently, my Grandma asked for a pretty sizable one when she asked me to teach her how computers work. Well, that’s a pretty long technical lesson just to be able to adjust your thermostat. You see, my uppity old Grandma got it in her head that she really needed an replaced heating plan plus smart thermostat to match. There was nothing wrong with her heater, but her neighbors got radiant heated flooring so clearly she needed it too. Similarly, her old thermostat was great plus she even knew how to operate the temperature control system, but one of the girls from Bridge Club just had hers replaced with a smart house thermostat, so now Grandma had to have it. The only trouble is, she has no idea how iphones, tablets, or even PCs work. She has no clue how to change her smart thermostat or augment the indoor air temperature. Instead of doing it herself, she’s decided I will be her personal temperature slave. Now she calls me every few hours to make all her temperature demands come true from my own cellphone.
