Recently I installed really stylish ceiling fans in my home because the existing fans looked out of date.

The new fans were so quiet and efficient in comparison to the old ones that I wondered if I could get away with running the air conditioner less in order to save money.

I brought up the idea with a group of friends one night, and wouldn’t you know it – one of my friends argued that it wasn’t a good idea to turn the a/c off. He is interning with an HVAC contractor, so he said that people commonly make the mistake of using either the ceiling fans or the air conditioner, not both. I was surprised to learn that when you use them both you can actually save money more so than if they are used independently. The real trick is what direction that the ceiling fan is blowing air. The air should be pushed down, which is easily determined by standing directly under the fan while it’s on. If the air isn’t blowing down on you, then turn it off and flip the switch to change the direction of the blades. Then, believe it or not, you should turn up the thermostat on the air conditioner two or three degrees higher than your normal setting. It does seem to go against common sense, but the U.S. Department of Energy claims that using ceiling fans with an air conditioner actually lets you feel comfortable at an indoor temperature that is up to four degrees higher than normal. In the end, the proper use of ceiling fans with air conditioners saves money because the thermostat setting is raised. The fans, of course, don’t make the house cooler – they just make it FEEL cooler.

I am not the original owner of the home, so perhaps the previous owner had caused damage to the a/c unit.

I have been planning a week-long vacation for several months now. My job can be quite stressful at times, so I decided that what I really needed was a ‘staycation’, meaning that I would use my vacation time to stay home, relax, and tend to my to-do list. Unfortunately, cleaning and cleaning out were at the top of my list. My air conditioner unit was one of the items that desperately needed to be cleaned. A year’s worth of dirt and debris had clogged the cooling fins, and I know that this was affecting my air conditioner’s efficiency. I turned off the power to the air conditioner, attached an extension cord to my vacuum cleaner, then dragged it outside to the outside unit. I unscrewed and removed the metal box covering the fins, then – with the soft brush attachment to my vacuum cleaner – I carefully vacuumed each of the a/c fins. There was an incredible amount of debris to be cleaned off, since the central fan sucks the outside air through the fins. In fact, I had to remove a lot of dead leaves from the fins before vacuuming them. I noticed that some of the fins were slightly bent, which is no surprise since they look so fragile. I am not the original owner of the home, so perhaps the previous owner had caused damage to the a/c unit. I figured that I could re-straighten some of the fins with a blunt dinner knife. Unfortunately, as I worked my way around the unit, I found even more bent fins. I decided at that point to call an HVAC professional to do the repair. I had too many other things to get done on my staycation!

Our Aunt Flo visits us once a year during the summer.

Aunt Flo is quite outspoken, especially when it comes to her personal comfort. She always lets us know if the water heater settings aren’t to her liking or if we keep the house too cool. We have never been able to settle our differences about the temperature setting of the central air conditioner. We have a dog that is a shepherd husky mix, which means he has a double layer of fur. We consider him an important member of our family, and keeping the air conditioner set to a comfortable temperature for him is important. So when Aunt Flo is visiting, she can complain all she wants to that the thermostat is set too low because our dog’s needs are important too. If he spends a lot of time laying on the air register, for example, we can tell that he’s too hot. Last summer we lost power during a heat wave and our poor dog was very uncomfortable. Not Aunt Flo – she thought that the house temperature was just right. When the power and the air conditioner came back on, her complaining started all over again. Once she tried to convince us that air conditioning isn’t good for dogs and that their panting is enough to cool them down. But our vet told us that panting essentially does nothing if the air is too hot or humid. She said that if a dog gets overheated, it can lead to heat stress and exhaustion. We have finally settled on a compromise with Aunt Flo. We now keep the air conditioner set at 76 degrees during her visits. But the minute that she leaves, we rush to the thermostat to lower the setting to our dog’s favorite temperature.

I work for a consumer safety office that deals with several types of commercial industries, one which is the HVAC industry.

If something goes wrong with a commercial HVAC system, there can be serious problems, such as carbon dioxide poisoning. Commercial HVAC systems contain hazardous chemicals, such as refrigerants. If individuals come into contact with these, it can lead to serious health problems. If the HVAC system isn’t set up properly, carbon monoxide could leak into the air. This can also occur if there’s poor ventilation for employees working with the Heating, Ventilation and Cooling system itself. The symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include a dull headache, nausea and dizziness. Individuals require immediate care if any or all these symptoms arise. Improper air filtration is another potential hazard of a commercial HVAC system. If the air filter is clogged, for example, harmful particles will be released into the air. Commercial HVAC systems also have complex electrical components which can be dangerous in the event of a malfunction. There’s always the potential for the risk of fire with electrical problems with any aspect of the heating, ventilation or cooling system. In an attempt to assist companies, my office provides a safety checklist for all commercial users of HVAC systems. It includes items such as complete adherence to manufacturer’s safety guidelines, a list of chemicals that should not be used near the HVAC system, and warning posters to be placed in strategic locations of the buildings. We also offer services such as safety presentations and pamphlets, confidential safety counseling, and resources that include contact information for government offices such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. I enjoy the work that I do because I know that it has been important in preventing harm to employees.

I noticed that many of the villagers struggled with Spring dust irritations, plus I had the solution, and first, I would build some air filters that could be inserted into the window air conditioners so that there was at least some air filtration going on. I assigned the other two Heating plus Air Conditioning professionals to build the air filters while I inspected building the first air purification unit. I was used to building UV light media air cleaners, although I knew that was not an possibility for the villagers, but one thing that the villagers had were miniature solar panels! They were so;ar panels that the town did not want or thought were broken. I fixed them up plus affixed them to the villagers’ window air conditioners so that they didn’t have to use electricity. I decided I could use the solar panels for the media air cleaners as well. I decided to build a type of HEPA media air cleaner, however a little simplified. These air filters would do a wonderful task at filtering our pollen plus other allergens, then soon enough every villager had a window air conditioner, portable space heater, plus a miniature HEPA media air cleaner.

Since the war started, our country has been short on particular materials like metal plus iron. To help the cause, the military demanded that every citizen give up their central cooling systems plus window cooling systems. While giving up an cooling system component doesn’t seem like a large deal, you must realize that most of the world is now desert because of a nuclear explosion plus everybody lives or dies by their cooling systems. Without an cooling system component in their home, several people would die of heat stroke. Many people tried to fight for their central cooling systems plus window cooling systems, but the military had their way plus forced everyone to give up their precious central cooling system plus window cooling systems. My partner plus I handed over our central cooling system, but my fantastic friend and I hid our window cooling system in a hidden chest in our basement, plus the government soldiers couldn’t find it. Since my fantastic friend and I were able to keep our window cooling system hidden, my fantastic friend and I did not suffer from the dire heat like some of our neighbors did. My friend and I let several of our friends plus neighbors crowd in our property with the window cooling system so they would not die from the dire heat. The central cooling systems plus window cooling systems that the government took were not enough to satisfy the war effort, plus they were soon demanding my fantastic friend and I hand over all of our Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C units, but every heating plus cooling corporation was closed plus all of the heaters, cooling systems, air purification units, plus smart thermostats were all taken for the war.

The town that I am living in is in extreme need of a heating & cooling business, and when I first arrived at this village, there were no Heating as well as Air Conditioning units at all, & various of the villagers would die due to the drastic heat & cold.

I built a window air conditioner for every family in the town so that summers would be more tolerable for them, after finishing the window air conditioners, I trained two of the villagers to be Heating as well as Air Conditioning workers.

While these two villagers did not go to Heating as well as Air Conditioning collage, they only had window air conditioners & a few other heating & cooling units to labor on so they didn’t need to learn much. After training them, my friend and I built a portable space heater for every dwelling in the village. This made winters better & the survival rate greatly increased! Now that every dwelling in the town had a window air conditioner, a portable space heater, & a small HEPA media air cleaner, my friend and I had really no labor to do. One frequent complication my friend and I ran into was that the villagers needed some new parts for their air conditioner or heater & they would have to walk miles just to ask us to get them the part. I decided to build a heating & cooling supplier in the town square so that everyone that needed parts could find them rapidly at the store. I also would build a little ship in the heating & cooling supplier where villagers could bring their heaters, air conditioner units, & media air cleaners when they broke & I & the other two Heating as well as Air Conditioning workers could repair them.
