Natural ways to lower indoor humidity

The easiest way to lower indoor humidity is by using a dehumidifier.

However, these devices are relatively expensive to purchase, and they typically require a lot of energy to run.

Moreover, dehumidifiers can sometimes make your indoor air too dry, creating a new set of problems. Fortunately, there are a few natural ways of lowering the humidity levels in your home. First, you may need to absorb the moisture in your indoor air. If you place pots of calcium chloride in problematic areas of your home, you will notice a rapid reduction in humidity levels. You can buy this powdered chemical in most large hardware stores. It absorbs the moisture in your indoor environment naturally and is relatively cheap. Vent your home. One of the simplest yet effective ways to reduce your indoor humidity levels is to improve ventilation in your home. The easiest way to achieve this is to open windows and doors as regularly as possible. You may also want to put fans in problem areas to improve air circulation. You may install extraction fans in spaces of your home that are especially susceptible to high humidity levels, such as the kitchen, attic, and bathroom. Remove indoor plants. Some indoor plants emit moisture into the air, which may have a direct impact on humidity levels. Transfer your live potted plants outdoors, and replace them with synthetic alternatives, if you please. Consider taking shorter showers, and always be sure to run ventilation fans while taking showers. You should also leave the windows and door open for about 30 minutes afterward. Whenever possible, best to line-dry your clothes instead of using your machine dryer.

Why does a furnace trip its breaker?

You may have discovered that your furnace stopped working, only to find out that the breaker to your system was tripped.

This occurs every once in a while, and it can be challenging to figure out what caused the problem.

Regardless of which type of fuel your system uses, your furnace still needs electricity to function. There are furnace parts that run on electricity. The most vital of those components is your furnace blower. This is the component of your furnace responsible for distributing warm air throughout your home, and it needs electricity to operate. Most furnaces also turn on with an electronic ignition rather than the pilot lights utilized in older furnaces. The electronic ignition also needs an electrical power supply to operate. Since it uses electricity to carry out its functions effectively, it will most likely trip the breaker at some point. The most likely reason that your furnace trips a circuit breaker is when the blower is overworking. Every time something restricts airflow to your system, your blower works harder in an attempt to compensate. The most likely culprit for airflow obstructions is a dirty or clogged air filter. When your blower works harder to push air through a dirty or clogged filter, it will increase the blower’s energy consumption, which may trip the circuit breaker. Other issues that may also contribute to an overworking furnace blower include duct leaks, home air leaks, and blocked or closed-off air registers. On some occasions, a tripped breaker may not necessarily be your furnace’s fault, your furnace may be sharing a breaker with other appliances that caused the trip, or perhaps the circuit breaker malfunctioned.

The heat pump blew up the cloth factory

I work for the clothing factory and have been for the past two years.

  • Since it gets very hot in the factory during the manufacturing process, we had a heat pump to ensure that we were cool as we worked.

Sometimes, it got so busy in the factory especially when we had to meet production deadlines, and we forgot to have the cooling workman perform air conditioning maintenance on the unit. Now, this summer we forgot to service the unit which was quite old but had served us as efficiently as possible. When at the peak of production, we suddenly heard a loud bang where the unit was placed and then we saw fire. We all followed the fire drill that we had been trained to in case of such an issue. The air condition expert at the factory put out the fire. It had not caused any damage apart from the unit which was completely destroyed. The a/c worker determined that the heat and AC products had worn out and rubbed against each other causing a spark that ignited the unit. This was all because we did not take proper care of the ductless HVAC. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the fire, however, the a/c representative recommended that we get a new system from the HVAC supplier and have the local contractor install it strategically. The management also requested that the technicians install an air quality system as part of the whole home air purification systems from the best quality HVAC brands. With this new system, we did not need to do air duct cleaning since it was vent-free. This lesson taught us to never be too busy to take care of the unit that ensures our working environment is comfortable.

That time I was a guest blogger on a HVAC brands website

I have been blogging for a couple of years now and once in a while, I get invited to write for companies or other bloggers.

I focus on topics about heat and AC products and give tips to homeowners, I review different units including the air quality systems which have been popular over the past year because of the pandemic.

I was recently invited to a guest blog at one of the most successful HVAC brands. I was to write a blog post about any topic of my liking with regards to heat pumps. Before writing the article, we were catching up with the a/c representative at the company and we reminisced about our experience as cooling workmen. We had interned at one of the companies and had been tasked with all sorts of responsibilities from installing systems to doing air duct cleaning and this is where our love for blogging about thesis systems grew. This company that had contracted me was launching a new ductless HVAC and needed me to write about it. The blog post garnered a lot of interaction from homeowners to HVAC suppliers to local contractors. There was a debate on Twitter about the post which highlighted these units and the new whole home air purification units. The company was impressed with the blog which brought awareness to the website and ideally to the company. They later received a lot of air conditioning maintenance customers which ensured that the a/c workers had work. Someone joked that blogging about these systems had made me an air conditioning expert and in a way, I agreed with them. From then on I got a lot of invitations from other bloggers.

How to ensure that your heat and AC products are not straining this summer

Every heating and cooling unit is designed to handle a lot of pressure but just enough to keep it from breaking down.

When a unit is straining, it wears faster and needs constant repairs.

Most straining will occur when the homeowners set low the thermostat during extreme weather such as summer. An air conditioning expert once shared a tip with me to always have my system undergo air conditioning maintenance before the summer and winter seasons. This ensures that the unit is ready to face the ‘extreme’ temperatures when the a/c worker confirms the unit is in good condition. A heat pump would strain when the lubrication on the heat and AC product is worn off and the parts are rubbing against each other. Last summer, the cooling workman forgot to do the air duct cleaning which limited the free flow of air, causing a strain on the ductless HVAC. This also increased my energy bills tremendously. It does not matter the HVAC brand you have, keeping the unit in good condition by servicing it will keep it from straining. At times the a/c representatives say that the straining can be from reasons beyond our control, like that time my unit was straining because the electricity was dimmed and I was unaware. Cleaning or replacing the filter will keep the unit from straining and eventually malfunctioning. This will ensure that the air quality system functions optimally improving the whole home air purification. Fortunately for me, my local contractor provided me with these tips to keep the unit functioning at 100 percent. When the heat pump is functioning as it should, homeowners get to save a lot of money, time, and headache from dealing with the repairs.

A new heat pump to keep my pregnant wife comfortable

Every man knows to be happy you need to keep his wife happy and comfortable especially if she is pregnant. When we got pregnant, we were extremely excited and during the first trimester, my wife had very bad morning sickness and sickness in general. It was at the peak of summer and she had been complaining that the old unit we had was not optimally functioning. I scheduled an air conditioning maintenance by the local cooling workman. He did do all the tasks involved in the servicing including air duct cleaning, however, my wife felt that the unit was not adequately and efficiently functioning. Thinking it was just my wife, I hired a different a/c worker to check on the unit. He confirmed that some of the heat and AC products had worn out and the air quality system was no longer improving whole home air purification. My wife was right all along and since I knew she needed to be comfortable, I ordered a new heat pump from the HVAC supplier. It came as a ductless HVAC so I did not need to schedule the cleaning of the vents every so often. We got one of the popular HVAC brands which were surprisingly affordable. The air conditioning expert recommended that we service the unit at least once a year to ensure that it worked at 100 percent. After using the unit for a week, my wife confirmed that the unit was now functioning optimally, she could feel the effects of the cool air circulating the house. The local contractor had also placed the new unit at a very strategic location that ensured easy circulation of air. I made sure to save the contacts of my new a/c representative since I was satisfied with the service.

Leaving the HVAC alone this summer

Micromanaging is something that I really despise.

It’s a terrible habit and the mark of an ineffective leader.

So when I catch myself doing it, I stop, recognize that I’ve done by way of an apology and double down on not doing it anymore. However, my nature can tend toward over thinking and meddling. But there’s just no place for that in a professional setting. In fact, I am attempting to do less of that at home as well. A new HVAC equipment upgrade is evidence of my efforts to limit my micromanaging. The HVAC company sent out and HVAC technician to install a new piece of HVAC technology. My HVAC unit will now be no longer controlled or over managed by me. Our home now has a smart thermostat. And that smart thermostat is far more capable of managing the HVAC output than I am. This means I’m letting the smart thermostat simply do its job and leave it alone. Actually, that was sort of the exact words from the HVAC professional. I had a myriad of questions regarding the wifi thermostat. But ultimately, the HVAC professional suggested that I let the smart thermostat do its job and then adjust accordingly. So that’s what I’m doing this summer. And summertime is the height of my HVAC thermostat micromanaging. That’s because it’s by far the most expensive HVAC cost season. I’ll be constantly fiddling with the thermostat in an effort to reduce the cost of HVAC cooling. The HVAC technician told me that no amount of thermostat monitoring by me could ever equal what the smart thermostat can do. Now, I’m just going to sit back and see.

Selling a house means an HVAC upgrade

I do my level best to bring home sellers and home buyers together.

That’s really my primary mission as a real estate professional.

Absolutely, real estate is also the way I make a living. Yet, the monetary aspect is not what gets me out of bed in the morning. It’s the chance to make that match between seller and buyer which drives me. So, I sort of get my back up a bit when anyone suggests that I am only in it for the commission. And yet, I hear this at least once a week. In fact, I heard it today when I suggested to a home owner that he should consider replacing the HVAC equipment prior to the house getting listed. You would have thought I had insulted his wife and family the way he reacted. He just went off about how all I was interested in was driving up the sales commission. Yet, he never said that the idea of replacing the heating and cooling equipment was wrong. That’s because in his heart and head, he knew that the old heat pump had to go. It’s just that he didn’t want to pay for it. From his perspective, the house was such a find that any potential buyer would be happy to negotiate when it came to the old HVAC equipment. If it hadn’t been for his wife, I would have walked out the door and left that mess to the next realtor. However, I showed her the data that proved new HVAC equipment meant a far better price on a home. Still, I’m a little chapped and not super eager to deal with that man again.

Use your head and join an HVAC service plan

Honestly, I do my very best to keep my nose to my business.

This is the best way for me to just get along and deal with life.

It’s a perspective that has become even more important as I see just more and more asinine behavior all around me. But sitting in my recliner all cranked up with emotion over someone else’s stupidity doesn’t do me any good at all. That’s just the truth. Still, it’s hard sometimes to deal with people who just simply refuse to acknowledge facts. I have a neighbor who I have to avoid at nearly all costs. He’s just so annoying that it makes it tough to deal with. I’d rather hide inside the air conditioning than go outside when he’s in his yard. In fact, I’ll sit inside my car with the air conditioning on and make a call just so I don’t have to deal with him. The guy just is such a conspiracy nut that he believes just everything is a scam aimed at him. The last time he caught me, he gave me chapter and verse on what a ruse HVAC maintenance was. It just went on and on how the HVAC company was soaking me for money that I didn’t need to spend. Finally, I had enough and told he that an HVAC service plan was both super logical and an investment in my HVAC equipment. I was angry and I had to stop myself and go inside. So I have to admit that it was with a bit of glee when I saw the HVAC company van outside his house doing HVAC maintenance the other day.

Going back to zone controlled HVAC

Honestly, it feels a bit weird to begin taking my first steps toward returning to a sort of new normal with respect to the pandemic. After more than a year of big time changes and sacrifice, I thought I would feel a bit different than I do. Perhaps I’m looking at this all wrong. But coming out of the security of my HVAC maintained home feels a bit strange. Like, it seems a bit anticlimactic or something. Now that I’m fully vaccinated, I figured I’d be itching to get out and about. But, I’m just not. In fact, I have come to like a lot of things about being inside the HVAC at home. For one, it’s summer and where I live, most of us look to stay inside the HVAC cooling this time of year. So, I’m not champing at the bit to get outside. But the problem was never really outside of the HVAC. It was inside with groups of people. So now, the office I work in is starting to let people back in. From what I’ve heard, there is even an HVAC upgrade. The office once had just one thermostat for the entire floor. This was a stupid design as the temperature varied throughout our office floor. So the company put in zone controlled HVAC. Now there are 5 independent zone control areas for heating and cooling. While the new HVAC comfort is appealing, I’m still really considering not returning to the office. I may choose to continue to work remotely. Not only have I gotten accustomed to working from home but I’m far more productive as well.
