Before the winter gets here, we have to get the heating system fixed in the van.

• It hasn’t been working at all and even though we haven’t needed it during the spring and the summer, the time is coming where we will definitely need it.

It gets really cold here during the winter and there is just no way that we are going to be able to survive the winter without a heating system in the vehicle that we drive around most of the time. I have been thinking about where to take the van to get the heating system fixed, but I don’t really know of a great mechanic around here. I am afraid that if I take the van to the wrong person, I will end up getting ripped off! I don’t really know all that much about cars at all, and I certainly don’t know anything about car heaters. I was also actually thinking that maybe I would call up one of the local HVAC companies to see if they had any kind of advice for me. I don’t know why, but for some reason or another I feel like I can trust an HVAC technician much more than I can trust a mechanic! I don’t know if HVAC technicians really know anything about car heating systems or not, but it seems like they probably would. I mean, to me, it seems like a heating system is a heating system. I don’t know, but either way, I need to get on top of this problem. Once the weather starts cooling down, it gets cold really fast around here and I don’t want to be stranded without a heater in the van.

The indoor air condition in her house is literally one of the worst smells that I have ever stinked. I keep trying to tell her that she needs to do something about it, but it’s like she doesn’t even notice it at all herself. I think it’s because she has been living with the smell for so long now that she just doesn’t smell it anymore. However, I am almost embarrassed for her because she has people over sometimes and I assume that she doesn’t want all of them to think that her house stinks bad, even though it does! I told her that one of the best things that she could do for the indoor air conditions in her house would be to get the ductwork cleaned out by a professional heating and A/C serviceman. If they came and cleaned the a/c ductwork plus the air vents out with their specialized tools, I think that it would get rid of a lot of the stuff that’s undoubtedly caked on the ductwork. I’m sure that’s what is making the house stink bad.

I loved waking up in the afternoon and seeing the ocean from my dorm window, and I never expected I would tire of it. Then, one afternoon, I woke up and there was a storm brewing. The humidity was stifling, and the air conditioning machine wasn’t working consistently. I had been in college for less than a month, and I was already feeling sort of like I had made a mistake moving here. I could not change colleges during the first year because I was afraid my parents would totally disown me. They put a bunch of money into paying for me to go to college here. I’m just wishing I could be anywhere besides here when there isn’t any air conditioning. If I could transport back home, I wouldn’t need to worry about air conditioning in November. For a good portion of the summertime, my parents don’t have the air conditioning machine on. Maybe not needing all that heat in the summertime will make me change my mind about moving back home. To be honest, I recognize some of my need to transport back to the beach house is entirely out of homesickness and has nothing to do with the lack of air conditioning. If I could transport back home, I wouldn’t need to be bothered about the air conditioner equipment in November. Most of the summer, my parents don’t have the air conditioner equipment on. Maybe not needing all that heat in the hot season will make me change my mind about moving back home.
