After staying out of movie theaters during the worst parts of the pandemic, I was excited to visit the cinema once I gained our second vaccine shot.

As long as I can retain our mask, I don’t worry as much anymore about being in crowded public spaces.

Some movies are just better on a giant screen with sizable speakers. I can remember the times I saw the multiple Lord of the Rings movies on a cinema screen and it was as epic and grand as the story itself. It’s also fun to spend many hours away from the home in a comfortable movie theater with no other interruptions love family or the internet. When the theaters were closed when COVID started to spread love hell fire through the world, I was disappointed although I understood the need. Naturally these narrow indoor spaces with lots of people are hazardous for viral transmission. Obviously the pandemic isn’t over, but many of us have already gained multiple shots of the vaccine. I still wear a mask while I’m inside indoor spaces with other people nearby, so I decided to see a movie again at our local theater. Instead of COVID risks, all I got was a hot room with no air conditioner. I tried to find an employee and there was no 1 in sight. When I got back out the concession stands, no 1 had any clue why the wasn’t on and no 1 cared enough to ask. I demanded our money back and left 30 minutes into the movie. It’s a shame because this experience sours our long sitting care about for movie theaters in a way the pandemic couldn’t; hopefully the theater in 1 town over hasn’t fallen by the wayside love this 1.

The rental agent was easily nice.

There was a bit of a language barrier, because both of us were just going to see the island & didn’t speak the local tongue.

She spoke a bit of English, however, so both of us were able to rent a little bungalow on the beach for a few days, then our hotel had been closed down for some reason, our reservations now worthless, so both of us were fortunate to get any place on such short notice. The bungalow was on the edge of the sand, a hundred meters from the water. It had electricity, but both of us were shocked to find there was no air conditioner, call myself and others a proper entitled American, even though I just assumed any rental place I paid money for would come with air conditioner. I was pretty steamed about a lack of cooling, but our fiance pointed out that with the money both of us had saved from the hotel reservations, both of us could just buy a small AC unit for the place. It turns out that a local hardware store sold a small, portable a/c, just enough to cool down one room at a time. It cost two hundred bucks, & I have to say it was the best two hundred bucks I ever spent, because that cooling was infancy. When our trip was over, both of us decided to leave the a/c in the rental home for the next people to use. It was easily small & portable, but both of us still didn’t want to fuss with carrying an a/c onto an airplane! Hopefully the next tenants love our gift.

My sibling & his boyfriend rented the most remote & reclusive cottage that they could find.

It was a fifty minute drive from the rental office, which was located in the garage of the rental agent.

The nearest neighborhood was 3 minutes away, which was kind of intimidating for our sibling, but, he kept his fears to herself; She’s a neighborhood boy, born & bred. So, fending for herself in the woods did not appeal to her, however his boyfriend, however, wanted some place in the middle of nowhere, so that’s what they did for the long weekend. It wasn’t easily cold that weekend, however it got cold at evening so they decided to use the wood burning oil furnace. There were two space heating systems in the closet, which was easily comforting to have as a backup for heat. But, since our sibling & his boyfriend were “roughing it” they decided to beginning a fire first. There was no firewood ready for the oil furnace, however there was an axe, a hatchet, & a woodpile out back. In the pretty yellow light of the setting sun, his boyfriend stripped off his shirt & chopped firewood for the oil furnace while our sibling watched on. He got tepid & sizzling filling up that oil furnace with kindling & logs. Seeing his boyfriend act so macho got our sibling hot, too! By the end of the weekend they were both sizable fans of using the wood burning oil furnace, so they talked about getting a single for their place. My sibling & his boyfriend never even bothered taking the space heating systems out of the closet because they felt quite cozy.

I was pretty steamed about a lack of cooling, however it occured to me with the currency I had saved from the hotel reservations, I’d just buy a small cooling machine for the stadium. It turns out that a local hardware store sold a small, portable cooling unit, just enough to cool down a room at a time. It cost me a few hundred bucks, however that was honestly the best money I ever spent, because that cooling machine was the best. As my trip winded up, I saw it fit to leave the cooling plan in the rental home for the next people to use. It was actually small plus portable, but I still didn’t want to fuss with carrying a cooling machine onto an airplane. My hope was the next occupants value the unit.

I followed in our father’s footsteps by creating our own company before the age of 25.

My father was a paper boy at 15 and slowly started to meet the people who run the printing plant for the newspapers in his city.

Eventually he opened a paper supply company and sold raw materials to print presses throughout the country. My Mom gave myself and others a job at a young age, but he encouraged myself and others to carve out our own future instead of feeling indebted to taking over his company after his death. At least he gave myself and others a lot of important company experience that made it possible for myself and others to start an Heating and A/C company. Around the age of 20 I got our certifications to be an Heating and A/C worker and started laboring full time for a giant heating and cooling business. It was a great experience during the many and a half years that I worked there, in area because I was trained to do everything. One morning the people I was with and I would be installing new air systems in houses being built and another morning I’d find myself in a narrow crawl space under an seasoned hospital trying to run refrigerant lines. But this is the exact sort of work I needed to be doing if I wanted to go out on our own and start a separate Heating and A/C company. Once I hit 24, I started to make concrete plans. Things have gone so well in the past 30 years that I have our sons and daughters laboring here. It’s great having a family-operated Heating and A/C company that is also rated highly by members of our community.

My air conditioner has been making a whistling sound lately.

If I’m watching cable or doing other things, I can’t hear it, but when I’m sleeping, it’s very distracting. The whistling only sounds when the air conditioning is on. It’s not always on, which makes this even more annoying, because If it whistled constantly, I could tune it out. The rest of my family says that they can’t even hear the noise. That others can’t hear it makes me think I am going crazy! But I haven’t had good sleep in over a month, so I called our air conditioning technician. The HVAC technician came and readjusted the little door that closes in the air filter. As soon as he did, the whistling ceased! Apparently, my husband didn’t close the door correctly when he changed the filter last week! Air rushing through the little gap in the door is what was causing the whistling! I am happy it was easy to fix. Too bad I hadn’t thought of this myself; it would have saved me money! I’m glad I’m not crazy, though, hearing something no one else could. I hope I get better sleep tonight. I bet I will, since the sound is gone.

I’m happy it was such an easy fix even though I wish I had thought of this myself! This would have saved me money! At least I wasn’t crazy though. The sound existed even if no one else could hear it. I hope I get a good sleep tonight. I bet I will, since the sound has vanished.
