I was actually happy to hear it when my son said he wanted to go to the skating rink.

That skating rink has been there for ages. As a matter of fact, that is the very place that my buddies and I used to hang out at regularly. I was thinking that now my son could hang out with his buddies regularly sort of like how I used to. I think it would be very good for him because it would keep him away from all the video games and things like that. So I ended up taking him and one of his best friends to the skating rink. Got them some skates and they were out there having a good old time. It was funny to watch them and I even took a video and posted it on my social media. The thing that really impressed me the most is the fact that they have a truly comfortable climate control system. As I recall, they didn’t have such comfortable temperature control settings back in the day. I guess they have come a long way with HVAC systems since back when I was a youngster, so it definitely makes sense. When I went to ask about their climate control system, I learned that they had an advanced HVAC with rapid heating and cooling technology. This was indeed impressive as they could change the temperature within minutes even if it’s extremely cold in the place. I might have to think about getting an HVAC system like that. It certainly would be nice to have.

I honestly wasn’t interested in going, but she said it would make her happy.

So I gave in, but I wasn’t happy about how hot it was that day. We were expecting to have a lot of people come through too. Well, at least I brought my portable HVAC unit. I actually keep it in my car because you never know when you’re going to need it. That thing has saved me in numerous situations. I also keep an umbrella in the car for shade when needed. So I brought out the umbrella and the portable HVAC unit. I positioned the portable HVAC unit in the perfect place where the A/C could blow across our faces. The portable HVAC unit also has a detachable solar panel which charges the battery even while it is operating! This allows the portable HVAC unit to work for a very long time, at least if you have good sunlight. We had plenty of sunlight though as there wasn’t a cloud in the sky! It felt so nice being in the shade and having the A/C working on such a hot day. I actually told my wife I would like to do that more often because it was a good time interacting with all the people and getting compliments about my portable HVAC unit with the solar panel. I honestly think that next time, we should set up a tent so it holds all the air conditioning inside while the solar panel is kept on the outside to collect the sun.

For quite some time I felt like the air quality in our home was never good enough. I changed the air filters regularly, but that didn’t seem to be enough. I even made sure to have the ductwork system cleaned every single year. Then one day, my wife came home and told me she had a special present for me. This is not something she commonly does, so I was intrigued. I couldn’t believe it when she pulled out a new UV air purifier. I had read about the UV air purifiers and I know that they kill harmful bacteria and viruses. On top of that, they provide excellent air quality mostly thanks to the HEPA air filter that they use. The UV air purifier works with a prefilter as well so you can change that filter and allow your HEPA air filter to last much longer. When we turned on the UV air purifier, it was like a dream to me. The air quality had never been so good and suddenly I was feeling better than ever. I actually work from home so I couldn’t wait to use it in my office as I was doing work. Something that has always bothered me is seeing any kind of dust in the air, because you know you are breathing that stuff in your lungs. I have been seeing dust regardless of how much I would dust. When I put the UV air purifier in my office, soon all of that dust I used to see was gone. I am loving this UV air purifier!

It wasn’t too long ago when we got our baby girl a kitten. She kept saying, “I want a kitty!” So we decided to get her a kitten and we told her to keep an eye on the little cat. It wasn’t long when the cat started running all over the place and would try to get into everything. She would even jump around inside of the cupboards which was not good. We ended up having to put childproof locks on all the drawers and cupboards just so this kitten would not get inside of there and make all the pots and pans dirty with pet dander. Then later on, our baby girl was crying because she could not find the kitten. We started looking all over the place for the cat but there was no luck. I swore I looked everywhere, but then I heard this faint meowing sound. I went towards where I heard it and I was listening and then I realized the sound was coming from the wall. For a moment, I wondered how that could be and then I noticed the HVAC vent in our daughter’s room was slightly open. It looked like the screw that held the HVAC vent on one side fell out and the cat managed to dash inside of the ductwork system. Fortunately, we have our ductwork system cleaned regularly so we weren’t worried about the cat getting dirty, but we were worried about getting the cat out of there. We could not use the HVAC system until the cat was free. We had no luck for awhile, but then I thought about getting the laser pointer. I shined the laser inside the ductwork and the kitten went dashing after the laser. I finally got her to hop out of the ductwork and then I secured the HVAC vent.

I always felt bad for my nephew over the years.

He has always been a great kid, but he is incredibly shy. He always seemed like he wanted to talk to you, but he would never really say much of anything. He wasn’t able to make many friends growing up and it seemed like he became a little bit depressed when he was in high school. I guess he made really good grades but he was teased by a bunch of the kids at school. I was happy when I saw that he decided to go to an HVAC trade school. That’s when his life really started to turn around. It seemed like when he was into something serious like helping people with heating and cooling systems, he was really happy to talk to people. When this young man was talking about different HVAC installations and energy saving tips, you never would know that he was ever such a shy person. I guess when somebody finds their true purpose in life, that really turns things around for them. In his case, it seemed that his purpose was to help people with their heating and cooling systems. I am always happy to talk to him about his work, and I have even asked him if he ever plans on owning his own HVAC company one day. He said he wasn’t sure as he never considered that, but now I can tell he is thinking about doing something like that. I know because he has asked me if I have any tips about how to run a professional business.

Over the years, I have dreaded the winter seasons.

Not only does it cost me a lot of money on my heating bills, but I can’t deal with the kids playing around my house throwing snowballs at each other.

Not only do they throw snowballs at each other but they love to throw them at the icicles around the houses, including mine. I have yelled at these kids countless times not to throw snowballs at my house, but they never seem to listen. This past winter was critical when they threw a snowball at this particularly massive icicle. It happens to be right over my A/C condenser unit. I heard the loud crashing noise and I was incredibly angry at these kids when I saw the damage caused to my HVAC equipment. I ended up getting a hold of their parents and had them work off the cost to repair the HVAC equipment by doing various chores around the house. I even had them splitting wood for my fireplace which was actually pretty nice, but I was still upset about what they did. This year I am taking extra precautions by keeping my A/C condenser unit covered so it doesn’t get damaged by icicles and the neighborhood kids. I think I should be fine and I shouldn’t have any more issues with my HVAC system, but I am always worried about what those kids are going to do next. Of course, I do kind of miss having them helping around the house and getting wood for my fireplace. I could use more help like that.

We have a long driveway and we have been getting a great deal of snow lately. Because of this, I have been having to keep up with all the shoveling and snow blowing. Unfortunately, the weather has been crazy with warm and cold temperatures and both rain and snowfall. We would get slammed with a ton of snow and then it would be raining a little later and then we would have a day of sunshine in the midst of the winter. The weather has been crazy but it also caused a ton of ice to form on the gravel driveway thanks to all the snow melting and then the temperatures freezing the water. I was out there shoveling and I ended up slipping on the ice and took a nasty fall. I ended up having to get my wife to take over with the snowblowing which I know wasn’t easy for her. I actually was comfortable relaxing next to the fireplace and adjusting the temperature control settings on my smart thermostat, but I felt entirely useless. At least I was able to watch some shows that I meant to catch up on, but I felt bad for my wife because she was in the dangerous conditions that got me injured in the first place. When I told her I wanted to help, she yelled at me and said she needed me to continue relaxing in front of the fireplace so I could recover, and then I could shovel as much snow as I could handle. She really is the perfect wife.

Things have been pretty crazy ever since we moved to a new location. The house is great and we’re in the country, but things have been harder than we imagined. First of all, we have a really long driveway and when it snows, we have to do a lot of shovelling and snowblowing. We honestly didn’t expect to have such frosty temperatures and blowing snow in the winter in this area, but we were wrong about that. We have been getting bombarded with snow and cold temperatures non-stop it seems. Then when I finally saw the first heating bill, I was alarmed. It was terribly expensive. I was thinking that I was going to have to have an HVAC technician look over the boiler system. I also realized that I made a sizable mistake that was causing the heating system to work non-stop. It was the fact that I failed to put plastic on the windows and weather sealing on the doors. So I had this done and then I was so happy with how much warmer it was in the house. The heating system hasn’t been working nearly as hard, but I still have an appointment with the HVAC company so that I know what is going on with our heating system. I just want to make sure our boiler system is running as efficiently as possible. I think that it would be terribly irresponsible not to have everything checked by an official HVAC professional. I plan on getting my HVAC system tuned up regularly and I will be keeping up with all the regular HVAC system maintenance.

My husband is naturally a warm sleeper. No matter what we do, his body overheats in the middle of the night, causing me to overheat too because I lay beside him. All his body heat gets trapped under the covers and it’s impossible to escape. I’m not someone who can sleep when they’re too warm, so this creates a big issue for me. I’ve tried turning on the overhead fan or adding portable fans beside the bed, but I discovered that these make me sick. All the direct, cool air being blown onto my face isn’t good for me. I contemplated turning the temperature down on the thermostat, but our HVAC system is so sensitive. I can turn the temperature down one degree and it feels like an ice box, but if I turn the temperature up one degree it feels like I’m living in a furnace. I don’t know why the HVAC system is like this. Adjusting the thermostat by a single degree either way should not lead to an extreme temperature. If it were just me and my husband, then I’d probably turn the temperature down. However, our baby sleeps in the room next to us and I worry that she’s too cold or too warm. I don’t want her to be uncomfortable, even if I am. I’d rather be the one that’s too warm or too cold instead of her. For this reason, I’m going to continue sweating at night until I can find an alternative solution to the inconsistent temperatures.

My thermostat chose the perfect time to die.

It died during a moderate time of year, so I wasn’t left with a freezing cold or smoking hot house. Because the temperature was so moderate, I had time to find a new thermostat. I wasn’t rushed to buy something new and have it installed right away. One Saturday afternoon, I went to the local hardware store to check out what they had available in the thermostat department. While I was browsing the selection, a salesman approached me and asked if I needed help. I kindly said no thank you, because I already knew what kind of thermostat I wanted. I was planning on getting a traditional thermostat, nothing fancy. The salesman saw my response as an opportunity to try and sell me a smart thermostat instead, which was twice as much money. I’d researched smart thermostats during my free time, but I knew I’d never use it enough to spend that kind of money on it. The salesman continued to press me on the details of the smart thermostat anyway. He told me all about the energy efficiency, how I could control it from my phone, and how much money I’d save over time. When he was finally done speaking, I told him that I only wanted the traditional thermostat because it was simple and all I needed. I knew how to run my HVAC system properly and I wasn’t interested in paying more. I don’t think he appreciated my response, but I did tell him from the beginning that I wasn’t interested.
