Every year up until this last weird year, we have always had people over on the weekend to watch the Super Bowl on TV on Super Bowl Sunday.

We have had up to fifty people at once packed into our living room for the party and it’s always a really fun time with a lot of our family and friends. We always look forward to having everyone over. It’s during the winter, of course, and usually the house gets super hot with the furnace running and all of those people packed into our house. I usually end up with the doors and windows open just to start cooling off the house. I’m usually super hot and sweaty while I’m cleaning things up and putting things away and it’s always nice to be able to go outside and take some deep breaths in the cold night air. This year, we were thinking that we wouldn’t have a party at all because of all of the coronavirus restrictions that are going on. I did get my heating and cooling system repaired a couple of weeks ago, just in case we did decide to have some people over to watch the football game. It’s been so cold this past week that I couldn’t risk not having a functioning heating system for Super Bowl Sunday. I mean, without so many people packing into the house and heating it up, we were definitely going to be needing a functioning heating system. I hope that we will have a good time; I’ve really missed having parties over the past year and I’m ready to get back to it!

We are having a really cold winter this year and the temperatures are causing more problems than you might think! We ended up having some huge icicles on the back of the garage and one night, I heard a crack and a giant crash.

I ran outside to look, and I found that one of the huge icicles had crashed right into our exterior A/C unit! Of course, in the middle of the winter when the temperatures are really cold outside, you don’t really give very much thought to your air conditioning system.

In the winter, you only think about your heating system and how you can keep your home nice and warm. At our house, we use the furnace as little as possible just so that we can save money on our heating bills. Of course, when this whole thing happened with the air conditioning system, I was surprised. I mean, I’ve never heard of anything like that ever happening before in my area. Actually, I have never heard of that happening anywhere at all. I thought it was the craziest thing ever to walk outside and see that icicle shattered into a million pieces on top of the air conditioning system in the backyard. I knew that I didn’t want to get the air conditioner fixed right away because I didn’t have the money and I knew that we weren’t going to be using our central air conditioning for at least a few more months. When I called to make the appointment with the HVAC company a couple of days later, they couldn’t believe it when I told them what happened.
