I had a favorite pair of earbuds that were awesome.

Unfortunately, they went missing.

This was not good because I had to mow the lawn and I hated doing that without listening to my music on the phone. Also, it was important for me to have my earbuds to be able to take incoming calls if anybody was trying to reach me while I was mowing the lawn. I have a large property, so it takes about 4 hours to mow the lawn which includes all the trim work as well. Well, I was disappointed when my earbuds went missing, but my daughter let me borrow her earbuds, which were a bright pink color. I don’t usually prefer pink, but I rocked those earbuds. It’s always hard for me to get outside away from the cooling system to do yard work. I always have to motivate myself. I regularly make sure to adjust the temperature control settings so it will be extra cool when I get back inside. I like to do this so I can really feel rejuvenated when I take my air conditioning breaks. Some days it just gets too hot to keep working, unless I get plenty of A/C breaks in between. I usually like to take one A/C break per hour so I never become too overheated. As long as I keep hydrated with cold water, I am usually okay. On the cooler days, it’s not so bad, but recently when I was totally rocking the pink earbuds, it was a very hot day.

Before my wife went to visit her parents out west, our HVAC system broke down.

• She told me to call the HVAC company and set up an appointment.

I actually did call the HVAC company but they were busy. They said it would take a week before they could come out. This was the end of the spring season and it was starting to get hot in the house without any air conditioning. It wasn’t so bad at night when I would open up the windows, but I couldn’t wait forever to have my A/C system fixed. I ended up watching some repair videos online that helped me to diagnose the issue with the A/C system. I ended up tearing everything apart in my A/C unit and I was still unable to solve the problem. Of course I had the power shut off to the unit as I learned that’s one of the most important things, but I wished I somehow knew how to fix the problem. It’s like I needed to go to an HVAC trade school to learn this type of work. The HVAC professionals make everything look so easy. When the HVAC professional arrived finally after a week, he was irritated that I worked on the A/C system. He said I voided my unit and I would have to get it replaced altogether. So I ended up voiding the warranty and the A/C system was so torn up that I had to have it replaced. I realized that my wife was going to kill me when she got back home.

I have never been a huge fan of flying, so I don’t know how I let my friend talk me into going on a flight out west.

I would have preferred to drive, but he said we didn’t have time for all that driving.

He also mentioned how exhausting it is. When I suggested going on a train, I mentioned how we could have our own temperature control settings if we were to book a roomette. Of course, he was talking about how slow the train is to take. So there we went getting our round trip tickets for an airline. Before I knew it, we were up in the air and I was trying to adjust the temperature control settings at the seat. Unfortunately, you can only adjust the speed of the air flow, but you can’t change the actual temperature. I hadn’t been on a plane for the longest time and I thought they were going to give us some sort of meal, but they didn’t. All we got were drinks and snacks on this long flight and I was heavily disappointed. I felt like I was going to starve when we got to our connecting flight, but fortunately there was a good eatery there with great temperature control settings. The connecting flight didn’t seem as bad as the first plane, but I was thankful when we finally touched down at our location where we got our rental car. It was so much better driving around, but I was disappointed when I learned my luggage was missing. They said they would call me if they found it, I was so mad. That would never have happened on a train or by driving.

My brother has always been a good auto mechanic. Most of the time when I visit him, he would be out there working on a car engine. He has this old ‘68 mustang he has been working on and it sure is a beauty. I helped him with the climate control system which is working great. He then told me about an RV that he purchased. He said he wanted to be able to go out with his family from time to time and enjoy the camping experience. He said the only issue with that RV other than a few minor fixes, he needed to have the climate control system fixed. He explained how the cooling system was basically shot but the heating system worked fine so he could defrost the windows in the winter and keep from freezing. I thought about it and then considered a ductless mini split system. I realized he would need to be able to supply enough power to run the ductless mini split and other electrics in the RV. So I helped him find the perfect solar panel set up to hook up to the top of the RV. I also mounted the condenser for the ductless mini split in the back and set up the indoor unit in the back so the cooling air would flow straight to the front. It was actually a very comfortable set up after I was done hooking everything up. I got the electrical set up perfectly and my brother thanked me for the help. He said we should start a business together hooking up RVs with ductless mini splits. He would soup up the RV while I hooked up the ductless mini split.

I used to think my brother was bad back in the day with his drinking habits, but my sister became a much worse alcoholic. My brother used to party hard, especially in his college days. I did a little partying during that time in my life too, but I wasn’t a major alcoholic. I would only drink on social occasions. My brother always enjoyed the drink, even if he was alone relaxing in front of his fireplace. My sister, on the other hand, became so bad. She used to be a total angel, but now she is outdrinking everybody. I tell her all the time she needs to slow down, but she tells me not to judge her. That’s if she’s being nice though, sometimes she will tell me to shut up and get her another beer. She really pushes on my nerves sometimes, but I always try to keep my cool. Speaking of cool, she is a fiend when it comes to the air conditioning. She always tries to mess with my thermostat. She is regularly trying to crank the A/C and she will set the thermostat as low as 65 degrees! I don’t want my house to feel like Antarctica, I want to just feel comfortable. I usually prefer the temperature control settings to be between 72 and 74 degrees, not any higher or lower than that! She doesn’t care though and I just leave her alone when she is drinking because I don’t want to get into a fight. As soon as she leaves though, I adjust the temperature control settings right back to the ideal levels.

It’s really been wonderful how things have been coming along with our home since we moved in.

Things were rough and uncertain in the beginning, especially during the process of selling our old home and acquiring a new one at the same time.

It was stressful because you have to coordinate everything perfectly for things to go smoothly, but there’s always a bump in the road it seems, especially going through the pandemic. Well, we ended up getting a really nice home with a good amount of land. I love the fireplace, I love the boiler system, and I especially love the new ductless mini split I installed. Probably the most difficult part was figuring out the electric wiring and all, but once I took care of that, everything else fell into place. We are just waiting for the window people to install our new windows and we will have better energy efficiency in our home. They say that with these new windows, we won’t even have to cover them in the winter because they keep the heating inside the house. I’m not sure about that, but it sounds nice. I must say though, I’m impressed with how everything is looking in the house. We got the covered porch looking great and I also have a zone from the HVAC in there so we can enjoy nice temperature control settings when we relax out there at different times of the day. We were able to insulate the porch a little more too so we are not wasting energy. Everybody who has come over to visit has complimented our lovely home too, it’s entirely nice.

He said the air quality in my house was so bad, it was killing him slowly

My brother has been an alcoholic for the longest time. He was always great when he was younger. He used to run track and he did well through the years. He even got a scholarship for college, but he ruined it when he started drinking heavily. Now he always has tons of drinks no matter where he is. I can hardly go with him anywhere because he always insists on stopping by the liquor store and picking up as much beer as possible. When he comes over to my house, he is usually always drunk. Well, the last time he was visiting my home, it was really bad. He kept talking trash about everything, including the food I made for us. He also started talking trash about my HVAC system and poor air quality in my house. I didn’t think my air quality was that bad, but he made it seem as though it was the worst thing in the world. He said all the places he went to, if the air quality was so bad he would never go back. He said I was lucky I was his brother. He even ended up calling the police and made a complaint. He said I was harming his health and they asked him to explain further. He said the air quality in my house was so bad, it was killing him slowly. They said that wasn’t a crime to have poor air quality and to only call with an emergency or he would be arrested. But leave it to my brother to do something like that, just to embarrass me!

When it was time to upgrade our boiler system, my wife said we should think about having radiant floor heating installed.

I never thought about this type of heating, but I had to admit, it sounded nice. We decided to have an HVAC professional come out to provide us with a free consultation. The consultation was very helpful and I learned that they could hook up the radiant floor heating to the new boiler system that we had installed. Also, we would be able to remove all the old radiators that were so unsightly in our home. So we decided to go for the new radiant floor heating installation and we were very impressed by the outcome. The radiators were always nice before, but the radiant floor heating is incredible. Now we have the heat rising nice and slowly and all the floors are perfectly warm. I mean, I honestly have never felt such a nice heating system in my life and it’s all thanks to my wife bringing it up. Personally, I would have never thought to get such a nice system such as radiant heated floors. My wife told me that it was actually a friend of hers who had radiant floor heating and she said it was amazing, that’s why she thought about it. If she were not around, I easily would have just upgraded the boiler system and I would have kept those old radiators for as long as they would last. I’m sure I could have gotten another 20 years out of them with a little bit of maintenance.

I thought having a screened in porch would be more superb than having a typical deck, then i appreciated the method of kneeling in a cozy lounge chair, drinking our coffee, and studying a great book.

I never saw myself doing this with a deck because the bugs were horrible in the summer time and I didn’t want to build something that I’d never use, and when I was explaining our dream for the screened in porch to our sibling, he told myself and others that I’d never use the screened in porch if there was no proper source of AC, however the summers in this region are hot and humid, so despite having a screen around the porch, I’d never love it, part of myself and others wanted to resent what our sibling said, but deep down, I knew he was right, and he could tell how crushed I was, so he suggested that I install weather shades and a ductless mini break system.

The weather shades were basically rolls of plastic that rolled up and down along the sides of the screen… You could see through them, so the natural light would continue to shine through, then during the summertime, I could roll the weather shades down and turn on our ductless mini break system. The shades would insulate the screened in porch and trap the A/C that was coming from the ductless mini break system. This would be the best way to love our screened in porch while the temperature was high, without needing to build a sunroom that would cost more.

As expected, HEPA air filters were more fancy than the thin air filters I was used to purchasing, however both of us knew they would make a difference in my husband’s allergies

Before I got married, I was able to update my air filter 2 to multiple times per year. An Heating and A/C professional would detach the dirty air filters during my Heating and A/C tune ups, and I’d occasionally update an air filter on my own in between appointments. It wasn’t until I got married that I had to update it more often. My husband dealt with some pretty drastic allergies, so the air in our beach apartment had to be pristine. I had always purchased cheap, thin, air filters because I was pleased with the amount of dirt and pollen they trapped. My husband on the other hand would suffer from allergy attacks frequently due to the extra dust getting through the air filter. This is when both of us decided to update our air filters to something more durable and thick. After doing some research, both of us discovered HEPA certified air filters, which were known for trapping airborne illnesses and stopping everything that tried to pass through. HEPA air filters were used in hospitals all around the country, because they were the best at keeping a space disinfect and free of air irritations. As expected, HEPA air filters were more fancy than the thin air filters I was used to purchasing, however both of us knew they would make a difference in my husband’s allergies. We’ve been using the HEPA air filters for a month now, and both of us can already see a difference. There’s no more particles floating around in the air and my husband’s allergies rarely flare up.
