Education is the best way to improve your situation in life. But what most people won’t tell you is that you need to pick the right education. Beyond the basics of reading, writing, and math, you need to be more selective in how you spend your time and money for education. We all know people who work at Starbucks because they can’t find a good job with a master’s degree. College is great for some people, but there is a lot to be had from learning a trade. Achieving your HVAC certification costs a fraction of a college education, and can prove to be a lot more valuable in the long run. It’s not like I grew up with a passion in my heart for air conditioners, I wasn’t following a dream by choosing this path. I just looked at my options, and what I had to work with, and learning the HVAC trade seemed like a smart decision. It’s all about return on investment, right? Doctors invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in their education, and can make millions, just like HVAC techs can invest a couple thousand on their education, and make a comfortable living forever. Some people over-achieve, as I know a man with a high school education who now owns a multi-million dollar HVAC contractor business. He didn’t get there by luck, he got there by applying himself to a trade, and becoming as educated as he could about heating and cooling system installation. No matter how you educate yourself, make sure you do it with purpose.
Hiring my first female HVAC tech
I really hate that my daughter is so much like me.
I hoped she would grow up like her mother, demuir and kind, and while she did get her mother’s sharp intellect, she got my disposition.
She is cranky, stubborn, and set in her ways, just like me. This means that as much as I love her, she drives me crazy, and we spend a lot of time debating and arguing. At the end of the day, there is nothing but love, but she feels compelled to challenge me. This time, though, as much as I hate to admit it, she may have a point. I have no female HVAC techs working for me at my company, and this is something I need to fix. Like most blue collar industries, HVAC has traditionally been a boy’s club, but maybe that isn’t such a good thing. If half of the population is female, and half of our customers are female, the fact that zero percent of our HVAC workers are female doesn’t feel like a mistake, it feels intentional. Granted I don’t get a lot of female applicants for HVAC positions, but at the same time I know I’ve never looked for any, either. I asked my daughter for help on the situation, and she showed me how easy it was by posting on social media asking about female HVAC techs. Within a day, I was in contact with three different local women who had their HVAC certification but hadn’t been able to ever find a job. I sure do feel like a fool!
Nail Salon Needs to Get Better HVAC
There is a nail salon right around the corner from my house. I have gone there many times, and I don’t mind it because it is so close to home. Also, I have only been there in the winter. When I was there during the cooler months., I enjoyed the fact that they propped open their front door. I thought they did this to enjoy the cooling air from outside, and also to bring fresh air to help with good indoor air quality. Then, I went back the other day. This was the first time I have gone there in the summer. I was shocked to see that they had the door propped open again! It was 96 degrees outside, and they were not using the air conditioning! I asked them if the a/c was broken, and they said no, they just choose to work without it. Maybe some of those people are accustomed to working without the cooling equipment running, but if they are going to stay in business here in the southeastern US, they had better start using the air conditioner in June! Plus, they use a lot of chemicals in nail salons. Those chemicals give off a powerful smell, and if they are going to have good indoor air quality, they are going to need to have the HVAC system filtering out some of those toxins. I, for one, will not go back to that salon until they wise up and turn on the air conditioner. It will help keep the humidity down, filter the air, and most importantly keep customers and employees from getting overheated. Cooling is vital in this neck of the woods!
Private Schools Down South Have no Furnace
I have a friend who is in charge of accreditation of the Catholic schools in our state. She is always traveling somewhere to make a site visit, and sometimes she gets to go really far south where it is so beautiful and surrounded by both oceans. Last time she went down there, she actually got there by boat! Isn’t that amazing! There is a boat taxi that goes from one of the ports and brings you all the way down there. She went in the winter, but even in the winter, it was warm. When she went into the school itself, she thought the heater was on. It was quite warm inside the school, and she actually asked someone if they could turn off the furnace, as the place seemed overheated. They just looked at her like she was from another planet, and informed her that they do not even have a furnace or any sort of artificial heating in the school. My friend was shocked and asked why it was so hot. It was so hot because they had decided not to turn on the a/c in January. Without the air conditioner, they could save quite a bit of money, but come March, they would need that cooling to be running full blast. I thought it was so funny that they aren’t required to have heating, but it turns out that no one that far south needs a furnace. It is not required by code, but air conditioning certainly is. She put in for them to get ceiling fans, and that way, when they didn’t want to run their air conditioning, they could turn on the fans and feel as if the cooling was running.

Both of us are well into summer time here.

Last year brought modern Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C surprises
I guess we can all agree that our pandemic year brought about plenty of swings plus sacrifices.
This was really tploy for me. While I don’t have a family to care for, I still wanted to be sure that I was doing my best to follow protocols for Covid. This was due to the fact that I run a small corporation which requires me to be visiting my clients onsite. Under normal circumstances that meant flying to onsite locations 7 or 8 times a month. I have been reminding myself over the past year that what my wife plus I are going through it just temporary.
This has sort of become love a mantra in fact. But, reminding myself that I’m in the midst of a process really helps me to deal with all of this. I can’t really explain the hesitation
I have been back plus forth on this Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C machine replacement thing for months. The people I was with and I had the Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C serviceman out last fall to do the heating maintenance as we regularly do. However this time, the Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C professional had some news that I really wasn’t quite ready for. Bike riding in Summer back when
When I was young I used to go to my uncle’s Summer home.
In the area he had the Summer apartment it was adore this small little town right by the ocean that was great for bike riding.
I would ride my bike on the most warm of Summer days till I was perspiring up a storm. Then I would stop at the local convenience store plus buy these microwave cheeseburgers plus eat them in the store with the great central air conditioner they had in there cranking! In this time microwaves were new plus so was the concept of central air conditioner, and so it was pretty awesome to have the concept of instant sandwiches in the microwave in the store, plus then experiencing the central air conditioner was the extra added bonus after those long energetic bike rides I used to take. I unquestionably enjoyed those days. The people I was with and I were all carefree plus had to worry about nothing however going to university plus having fun on the weekends plus summers. That central air conditioner in the convenience store was a big deal back then… Not many convenience stores had central air conditioner. They would all have your familiar window air conditioner units adore both of us did in our homes. But there was something more special plus powerful about central air conditioner. And guess myself and others it felt great after all that bike riding in the warm sun on those warm days in those days! If you wern’t there, you don’t even guess what i’m talking about.
