My husband doesn't want the air ducts cleaned at all

I want to get the air duct cleaned but our husband is totally against it.

My side is that I have done a lot of lake house remodeling. I have completely gutted two bathrooms where there was dust all in the air. Every ceiling in our lake house had gum that I scrapped. I even mudded plus sanded a few of the ceilings as well. I also sanded wood bifold doors in the beach house too. There has been a lot of dust flying around plus our advanced cooling system was on for the entirety of it. I suppose the HVAC took in that dust plus now it sits collecting in our air duct. Did you realize that the people I was with and I spend 90% of our morning indoors? Did you realize that the indoor air condition is almost 5 times worse than the outdoor air condition? I don’t want to breathe in that dust to make myself and others sneeze plus be sick. That is why I recognize the people I was with and I need our air ducts cleaned immediately. I have the money plus the time to oversee the HVAC worker. My partner is of the mindset that the air duct is totally safe. It is totally sealed in the walls plus ceilings. He does not know dust can lay inside of it. Having a worker do air duct cleaning is risky as well. They can certainly damage the air ducts in the process plus cause holes in the duct. A small hole can certainly let out a lot of air plus cause higher energy bills. Even perfectly sealed air ducts let out 20% of the air the HVAC creates. A proper piece of air duct is letting out 40% of the air. Insane isn’t it? My partner doesn’t want to risk even higher energy bills.

The benefits of heated floors- as well as the down sides

My lake house is all carpet. I am not a sizable fan of rugs. I recognize they always look dirty plus make the home seem dingy. I want tile so that I can have a straight-forward walk up plus for it to look elegant. Since I am ripping up all the floors in our home, it makes sense to add some heated flooring. I have looked into the process plus it isn’t too difficult. Now it will double our flooring project costs but I would be getting a heating plan out of the deal as well. My central gas furnace is around 40 years old. I recognize it will go any day now plus it is smart to have a backup heater ready. Once the central gas furnace dies, I could rely on the wonderful radiant heated floors plus just purchase a cooling system down the road at some point. I looked into pros plus cons of heated flooring plus that is what finally sold me. The pros are that this heating plan is totally quiet plus air doesn’t rise to the ceiling to waste heat. Why does it do this? Radiant heat is electrical. There is no heated air that is lighter plus rising up to the ceiling. There is nothing blowing the air in or out of the system. With electric based mats, you have no hot plus cool spots either. Anything that is touching the mat feels warm as a result. When the heat is at your feet, you feel much warmer plus can lower the climate component to save money. The only cons I have found with this plan is that it adds a lot of height plus weight to the floor. It is a concern. I don’t want to cause cracks all along the drywall. But I can alway repair those later down the line.

Now I know I can do radiant heated floors on my own

I have looked into a heated flooring upgrade plus it doesn’t seem too tough.

I started out beyond unhandy. When I bought our lake house I could only paint plus scrap. Now I am becoming quite impressed with tools. I have mudded, added drywall plus done some extensive tile work. I am impressed that I can cut plus lay tile, grout it plus have a smooth and perfect finished product. I have been eyeing up our kitchen for quite some time. The kitchen has this dark brown rug that is just disgusting. I want to rip it up plus put black tile down. It would make our kitchen so much more modern and high tech looking. Since I am ripping up the floors anway, I have been looking into installing radiant heating. Apparently this is the best location to do it. At first I thought I might need to call a HVAC vendor. After enjoying some videos plus reading articles, I suppose I can do the replacement on our own. It seems pretty easy. After I rip up the rugs plus get down to the plywood, I just need to simply drill in our cement board. I suppose that’s how to do that. After that the electric heated mats are sited on top. You basically lay them and then enjoy the tile. It seems super straight-forward plus I would check our progress before tiling over top. That is the startling part, and once I have finished the heating replacement I would need to put some mastic on it, tile plus then the people I was with and I would finally be able to grout the finished product.

Most small towns don’t have much of a internet presence

I went from living in a small town in the north to a tiny town down south.

I enjoy small towns.

It is safer, easier plus better to live. I was able to get a large plot of land plus a nice lake house for myself. I enjoy that people are starting to recall our name plus I recall theirs. I enjoy that it isn’t as quite as loud as it would be in a city. I don’t mind the limited choices with businesses, you get locally owned sites that usually offer a better product anyway. I have experienced trouble finding some of the local services though. Since the people I was with and I live in such a small town, most of the companies don’t have a website. So that means more urban people who enjoy themselves cannot find them online. I had an extremely strenuous time finding a seamstress because she had no internet presence. I now need to get a HVAC professional to install a gas furnace for me. I have asked around at the local hardware store, bank plus post office. Everyone tells myself and others this guy Kevin is amazing. Apparently he is actually a licensed and bonded HVAC professional that used to live in the city. Now he lives here plus just does HVAC installs whenever he can. Nobody had this guy’s phone number though. Apparently to get an appointment with Kyle you either go to his lake house or find him at one of the local diners. I have been trying to locate this guy with no luck. It seems weird to myself and others that I need to go to our HVAC dealers lake house plus bother him. I might need to though. I certainly want our gas furnace replaced.

Only one HVAC Professional choice in this town

My partner plus I lived in this small town for a few years. There were some great points to town life but the several of us eventually decided to move on. Both of us wanted to have a bit more property plus privacy. The noise level of the big city was unbearable too. The several of us realized that the people I was with and I didn’t take advantage of the things town life offered. Both of us never seemed to go out to the movies, bars or diners. Both of us are big homebodies plus it made no sense to live in the big city; Country life is a lot better for us. The several of us enjoy standing on the side porch drinking coffee in the morning. Both of us can be totally private when in our yard plus the few small retail stores aren’t a problem. The only problem is that with a small town, you don’t have a lot of competition price wise. There are just several diners in town. When you want to order pizza, there is only a single pizza place. There is a single electrician, plumber plus local HVAC business. I realized the neighborhood local HVAC professional isn’t much good, but he had given our HVAC component a tuneup plus a passing bill of health. A few months later our heating plus cooling plan wouldn’t turn on at all. The HVAC professional put some coolant in it plus cleared the vents. He then decided that it was finally done for. I suppose the guy certainly just didn’t understand what to do. I had a very difficult time finding another HVAC option to get a third opinion. I didn’t want to replace our HVAC filters unless I had to. I ended up paying for a guy from the town to make the drive to look at our HVAC system.

My spouse doesn't want the air duct cleared

I want to get the air duct cleared however our spouse is totally against it. My side is that I have done a whole lot of home remodeling. I have completely gutted a lavatory where there was dust all over the place. Every ceiling in our home had mold that I scrapped. I even mudded & sanded a few of the ceilings. I also sanded wood bifold doors in the home as well. There has been a lot of dust flying around & our air conditioning was on for all of it. I think the Heating, Ventilation, & advanced A/C took in that dust & now it is sitting in our air duct. Did you know that both of us spend 95% of our afternoon indoors? Did you think that the air quality in our home is almost 5 times worse than the outdoor air? I want to have pristine indoor air conditions. I don’t want to breathe in all that dust to make myself and others sneeze & feel quite sick. That is why I feel both of us need our Heating, Ventilation, & advanced A/C ducts cleaned. I have the money & the time to babysit the Heating, Ventilation, & advanced A/C worker. My partner is of the belief that the air duct is safe. It is totally sealed in the walls & ceilings. It is not affected by dust that can kneel inside of it. Having a worker do air duct cleaning is just dangerous too. They can particularly damage the Heating, Ventilation, & advanced A/C ducts in the process & cause some holes. A small hole can let out a lot of air & cause energy huge bills. Even perfectly sealed Heating, Ventilation, & advanced A/C ducts let out 10% of the air the Heating, Ventilation, & advanced A/C creates. A quality section of the air duct is letting out 30% of the air. Crazy isn’t it? My partner doesn’t want to risk ever higher energy bills.

Pluses and minuses of radiant heated floors

My house is all red carpet.

I am not a substantial fan of carpets. I feel they regularly look dirty & make the arena seem dingy and dull. I want tile so that I can have a self-explanatory work up & for it to look very pretty. Since I am ripping up all the floors in our home, it makes sense to add radiant heated flooring. I have looked into the process involved & it is not too bad. Now it will double the cost of our flooring project although I would be getting a comprehensive heating plan out of the deal. My central heating system is around 30 years old. I feel it will go any day now & it is smart to have a second backup heater. Once the central heating system dies, I could use the radiant heated floors & just purchase an air conditioning down the line. I looked into pluses & minuses of heated flooring & that is what really sold me. The pros are that this heating plan is totally silent & the hot air doesn’t rise to the ceiling to waste heat. Why does it do this? Radiant heat is electrically based. There is no heated air that is lighter & rising up at all. There is nothing blowing the air in or out of the system. With electric based mats, you have no hot & chilly zones either. Anything that is touching the mat feels hot as a result. When the heat is at your feet, you feel warmer & can lower the temperature to save significant money. The only downside I have found with this plan is that it adds a lot of height & weight to the floor. It is a concern. I don’t want to cause new cracks along the drywall, but I can alway maintain those later down the road.

I can do the radiant floor heater replacement myself!

I have looked into a heated flooring replacement & it doesn’t seem too difficult.

I started out very unhandy. When I obtained our house I could only paint & scrap. Now I am becoming quite talented with tools. I have mudded, added drywall & done some great tile work. I am impressed that I can chop & kneel tile, grout it & have a smooth finished product set up pretty quickly. I have been eyeing up our dining room for quite some time. The dining room has this dark brown rug that is just disgusting. I want to rip it up & put white tile down. It would make our dining room so much more modern. Since I am tearing up the floors anyways, I have been looking into radiant heated flooring. Apparently this is the best time to do it. I thought I might need to call a Heating, Ventilation, & advqancedA/C dealer. After watching some videos & studying articles, I guess I can do the replacement myself. It seems pretty easy. After I rip up the carpets & get down to the plywood, I just need to drill in our new cement board. After that the electric heated mats are placed on top. You basically kneel them down. It seems super self-explanatory & I would check our work before tiling over top afterwards. That is the bone-chilling part. Once I finished the heating replacement I would need to put some mastic on it, tile & after that I would then grout the finished product. If I made a big mistake, I would not be able to access that heated mat again.

My partner & I lived in town for a few months.

There were some fantastic points to townie life however more than one of us eventually decided to move away.
